I count it at the absolute bare minimum, as being able to get a game for the top sides in the Championship and be among one of their better players. None of those players do that.

….I always think categorising players is a bit of a nonsense. Often a player who struggles in one team will just fit into even a very good team & do a specific job. I don’t get this ‘Championship Player’ tag, suffice to say we have some very ordinary performers in our squad.

Nobody wants us to waste money on a CB, but I'd be shocked if people can't see how urgent strengthening our central defence is.
apply this same sentence and change 'CB' and 'central defence' to any other position (barring CM and GK) and no one could argue the contrary mate

@Tofeenut can you tell us about any other famous medicals from over the years, non-Everton related? Just to fill the gaps before Big Kev’s alarm goes off to wake him up on the 28th August.
Just a little off topic, but nothing is actually happening with transfers.

Once golfed with a guy who claimed he was a doctor who went on tour with a lot of bands in the 70s. He absolutely hated the Grateful Dead (Garcia in particular), but spoke very highly of Ian Anderson and Robert Plant

Time is ticking away and our board sitting on its hands again.

Season basically starts 3 weeks and we are we have made 1 or 2 weak bids, all this when we are desperate for players, wouldn't be surprised if we have signed nobody ( but old young) buy the time season begins

And here’s the latest from @Tofeenut HQ

….bit of trivia; if that’s Long Lane, it’s known as ‘Little Wembley’ because Everton trained on it ahead of the ‘66 FA Cup Final. The surface was the closest they could get to Wembley.

and still calling it that over 50 years later, sums everything up

I think Brazil used it during the 66 World Cup...might have just been something kids made up

Stinking of January this isn't it. Phantom bids, we tried, bigging up players already in the squad, unable to agree deals, selling prospects, scrambling for c or d options on the list. We don't at the very very least bring in 4-5 players, (minimum we need a back up goalie, midfielder, right winger, forward)I fear for the next season. Even if we do in August they won't be bedded in, meaning they are hamstringing us for yet another start to the season. Keeping Chairman Bill in situ to handle negotiations, could be the last and most fatal mistake Farthad makes.

Waste or spend?

I think every area of the squad needs improvement, but I would be focusing mainly on Attack at first.

If we can ship a few CB/CMs and increase the quality, then great.
