Why, in a season when Jamie Vardy scored very few goals, could his much younger, highly prolific (if we accept goals/90 as a valid statistic) "back up" not manage to replace him in the team?Its not what you asked, you asked why did he not play as much....and its because they have Vardy, who is the number 1 striker, and Iheanacho is the back up.
