As I said, Everton will be more informed than us, only they will know if it theres a chance left.

I personally suspect we have already moved on, but we shall see.
Agree with this, there was some lines on the bird/X last night that we are back looking at Mr Blobby bloke from Ajax again, he is a bit raw but he is a proper powerhouse and built like a bull and would cause defenders alot of problems, nearly went to Utd in January.

That report just says Atalanta are saying they're not close to signing him and that might be because they don't have the money yet or it might be because he's coming here instead I don't know how posters are looking at that and seeing different words that actually say he's not interested in coming here and we need to walk away.

Id say we are constantly missing out on top targets mate. MGW and Onana/Garner last year springs to mind.

I'm prepared to be patient, i think we will see another 3.

Dont think Thelwel has got much wrong bar Maupay personally, in very adverse circumstances.

Most of the what you would assume are genuine links i see - look logical and improve us.
Vinagre, but he was a cheap back up. I think we will all feel better once a proper number 9 is signed, then the other positions can wait til later in the window, as and when what we need becomes available.

We will (hopefully) sign a striker and are probably at work on plan B in the likely event plan A (Toure) does not sign.
However , I think we need to keep pre season in perspective. Because of international commitments and injuries we are only seeing the squad start to assemble now.
When playing Bolton I would guess we were missing six players who will probably start against Fulham
Pickford
Gana
Doucoure
Garner
Danjuma
A striker.. DCL or somebody else.

I didn't include Branthwaite but he may be another if he impresses.

I think the game on Saturday will see the strongest team so far and I think the younger players(apart from a couple) will revert back to their under age team.

My shopping list is a striker(obviously) and a creative midfielder.

I agree, I’m mostly positive on him and on the deals he’s done. Whether or not we get EBT he’s the right profile to be targeting. But the response if we don’t get him will be a big moment for him.

We need to learn lessons from Maupay though in my opinion mate. I think he was bought under pressure with a limited budget and they miscalculated on Dom. Wed have been better off doing nothing.

There isnt a point in buying someone under timeline pressure that doesnt improve us.

We've had some really woeful second strikers in Maupay, Rondon, Tosun and Niasse - Kean i always feel we should have got more out of, we need to crack this, this time - its an important call.

Atalanta are already 30m up on this Summers transfer dealings.

They had the same sort of Net spend profit last year also, I find it hard to believe they dont have the money, but I suppose signing a player before they sell possibly weakens their negotiation.

The fact its gone a bit silent would suggest to me this isn't dead yet.

Problem for me is this type of deal should of been sorted months ago and a pre-contract shoved under the players nose ready for him to sign on the 1st June or at least 1st July when the accounts reset its self. (If he is our number one target)

Most transfers take months.

This deal will have been ongoing for a long time.

I dont understand it myself, it feels like it should take 1 phone call to get a deal done, but what the hell do I know about doing business in a multi-billion pound industry.

Only if you insist on players with PL experience. Toure wasn't that so it shows we might actually be looking in the right areas finally.
I can't find the tweet now, but there was something about how his stats profile as basically a mini-DCL. Finding someone with the pace DCL has plus the strength in the air etc is difficult, but this lad has both and its why we've been tracking him for a while. If you Google it, we were linked with him before he went to Almeria.

In short, the scouting team does seem to be doing its job, it's just attracting the players and affording them is quite another matter

I don't know anything about the finances or even if this is a player we're trying to sign at all only think its funny how people seem to see what they want to see when articles like that are published and don't see what it actually says. All the reports on this deal seem to match up as far as i can see so everything points to it being undecided but people say an article saying just that is evidence of the opposite!

You would hope or think that we opened negotiations with 2-3 strikers so we know what the club and player want months ago, so if a deal falls through the next one shouldnt be so hard to get over the line. I mean that sounds easy and simple, but our club is so far away from easy and simple its frightening.

“All the meat on the grill” is a new addition to the Everton transfer lexicon.
