Most transfers take months.

This deal will have been ongoing for a long time.

I dont understand it myself, it feels like it should take 1 phone call to get a deal done, but what the hell do I know about doing business in a multi-billion pound industry.

A former colleague of mine (who was an absolute wet wipe) has a brother who's an agent and I asked him more or less this very question.

It can take ages to agree fees and payment structures etc and then it becomes a question of holding your nerve, especially when there's other interest.

If you make that phone call to the agent, the reply could easily be "Oh, Mr Thelwell, we were really impressed with everything you said. We are having a hard time making a decision here." this is the invitation, unspoken, for more money to be put into the deal to get it done quickly. You might think this is going to seal the deal, but what will happen 99% of the time is that the agent will go straight to the other team and invite them to better it.

We need to learn lessons from Maupay though in my opinion mate. I think he was bought under pressure with a limited budget and they miscalculated on Dom. Wed have been better off doing nothing.

There isnt a point in buying someone under timeline pressure that doesnt improve us.

We've had some really woeful second strikers in Maupay, Rondon, Tosun and Niasse - Kean i always feel we should have got more out of, we need to crack this, this time - its an important call.
Somebody told me the other day that Moise Kean has only completed a full league game in his career about 13 times or something and he's 23 or 24 now so I think theres a lot more to that one myself there must be problems there if thats true.

I don't know anything about the finances or even if this is a player we're trying to sign at all only think its funny how people seem to see what they want to see when articles like that are published and don't see what it actually says. All the reports on this deal seem to match up as far as i can see so everything points to it being undecided but people say an article saying just that is evidence of the opposite!
I think the paranoia and the conspiracy theories creep in because it feels like we've been down this road before...being strung along and left with nothing. Clear thinking is difficult in a time of panic. And we do have cause to panic!

I get it all that, lots of "We will get back to you" and "Leave it with us" no doubt.

That report just says Atalanta are saying they're not close to signing him and that might be because they don't have the money yet or it might be because he's coming here instead I don't know how posters are looking at that and seeing different words that actually say he's not interested in coming here and we need to walk away.
It’s called theEsk syndrome

I searched on NewsNow Everton.

Two different headlines one directly above the other:
Leeds have now ‘closed the door’ to player’s exit – PL club having to look at alternatives.

View: Door now wide open for Everton to seal 'Exceptional' transfers as Leeds news drops

It's all a load of nonsense but I can't help looking.

NewsNow is the ‘Club Call’ for the Angry Birds generation.

Absolutely. It's been clear for days that this is what is happening. The lad clearly doesn't fancy us, but Atalanta don't have the cash yet to sign him. If we wait it out for an answer we all know will be negative, thus actually giving Atalanta the time to get their money, we really are a sham of a club. Set a 24 hour deadline, if not met move on.

This will be like the Giroud fiasco again if we don't get moving!
We don't really know this.
The overwhelming majority of stories have been coming from the Italian press and we have seen in the last few days with the DCL story that they are far from reliable with what they report and would love for an Italian club to beat a British team to a signing.

I would guess that EBT has a concern about playing when DCL is fit and well and is possibly looking for assurances from both clubs that he will play.
If Atlanta can't sell their striker to Utd then EBT will probably spend more time on the bench there than he will at Everton.

“All the meat on the grill” is a new addition to the Everton transfer lexicon.

In other news, Greg O'Keefe denies Everton have put more meat on the grill. "Not at all" said Greg, "Everton have kept the meat in the freezer and are thinking of waiting until January before they put more meat on the grill, the grill simply isn't ready for anymore meat at this time as they had to use 2 sausages and a steak just to get Danjuma in!"

we need players, but as I always say, we are trying to sign players for the 38 games this season and potentially the 38 games for the next
38 this season or fot the next 46 games in the championship next season through being negligent again. If it was a midfielder or defender yes wait but we’ve needed a striker for 2 years and not having one in ready or getting him in end of august could mean 35/36 games them other 2/3 games could be the difference in grabbing a draw or 3 points which we seen last season is vital.
