Summer transfer window 2023

Joyce doing Kenwright's dirty work here. Just like with Diaz and all the other failed deals, we now have the 'Everton are confident' Kiss of death line. Also couched it with the Atalanta perspective, so we don't get too upset at a time when we're also livid with the club.

But in the next bit, he is also making sure we are aware that we will not be agreeing any big deals for any alternatives as other clubs wouldn't accept this. So welcome Che, I'd guess.

Joyce is a proper Kenwright lackey.

I’ve just basically said this in the player thread. This “saga” is just a slab of red meat being chucked to us by the club. The only thing holding up his move to Atalanta is the Hojlund to United deal which will take weeks and weeks as is the United way. This is the perfect excuse for them not to bring anyone in, they can pretend they’ve been working on this the whole time. They think we’re stupid, honestly.

It's what we always do. And look how many times we never then seem to have money to the value of the failed deal available during the next transfer window 🤔🤔

Funny that.
In the clubs defence (Cant believe im saying that) if we are offering say 75k a week but he wants 90-95k do we just up it to get him even if we don't think he is worth that salary yet?

Decisions like that have got us where we are today, struggling to get rid of players because of their high salaries. and running their contract down.

Unfortunately I imagine this is not far away from the truth, or maybe spot on

Looks entirely like a typical Everton excuse

PJ saying Everton believe they are still fully in EBT hunt but Atalanta believe it is sewn up is classic Kenwright era media management. Both cannot be right but keep the smoke blowing. Anyone putting £ on our judgement? No? Me neither. The point about payment schedule can validly be seen as getting our excuses in early for not having a viable back-up plan. It is partially that. It is also unfortunately largely simple truth. We are cash starved. What a mess we are.

Also this “small down payment and the rest paid over a number of years” crap is hardly helpful for us, as that money will have to come out of our budgets for the next few years. So next year we would probably still be paying off McNeil, Maupay, Onana and this fella taking money out of the budget to replace the 85 players that are leaving on a free.

I don't think it matters if he's a lackey or not if what he says is true and it probably is. I said in a different post all the reports seem to stack up to the same thing which is that Atalanta are confident of signing him but they haven't managed to do it and Everton still think they can get a deal done so this is just another confirmation of that and the money part we all know already its the same as last season with small payments up front its not a surprise.
Nope. It's the way it's written. Kenwright MO all over that. We might somehow pull the deal off, but I doubt it. It's written in such a way as to lower expectations. The wording is very specific.
