Joyce doing Kenwright's dirty work here. Just like with Diaz and all the other failed deals, we now have the 'Everton are confident' Kiss of death line. Also couched it with the Atalanta perspective, so we don't get too upset at a time when we're also livid with the club.

But in the next bit, he is also making sure we are aware that we will not be agreeing any big deals for any alternatives as other clubs wouldn't accept this. So welcome Che, I'd guess.

Joyce is a proper Kenwright lackey.

Are they really failed bids though? I mean, when we bid for Onana, McNeil, Myko etc no one is saying phantom bids, only the ones that do not come off.

The point being, we make bids, some pull off some don't. We are amazingly bad a deals but, some get over the line and some don't.

Absolutely take the point mate. But this is why need to be signing players in his age bracket. We are unlikely to be stuck with him.

The issue is when we've been offering dross over 26 long contracts on big money. In most cases, it's likely their last big payday, so why would they move? Most clubs that may be interested can't match the salary, so we are stuck with them. If it's a young lad (and I'm not saying this will always be the case) even if it doesn't work out, they are likely to want to play, so will be more likely to accept a wage drop elsewhere. And if we've scouted properly, they will move up to a bigger and better club and earn us a tidy sum.

So, imo (without going completely overboard) if we have the headroom in the budget to offer the lad a bit more than we'd like and he is our no 1 target, we should do it to get the deal done. But generally, yeah, we should be careful with the wages we offer.
Yes mate this has been the biggest problem.

Afternoon mates.

Welcome to the 27th July Everton transfer show…..

I’ve tried to bundle together as many of the transfer rumours flying around, combining them into one bite size and heart burn inducing portion for your dining pleasure.

I make some apology for some of the sources and articles used.

Roma have identified Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a cheaper alternative to West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported on its website on Wednesday (26 July) that Calvert-Lewin would cost 50 per cent less than Scamacca.

Amidst rumours buzzing around the beautiful game, we hear that Serie A contender AS Roma has its sight set on a certain key striker from England. The Italian outfit is courting Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton’s pride and joy. However, sources from within the Toffees’ ranks have firmly reiterated that their sharpshooter isn’t going anywhere.

The Merseyside-based team’s stance is solidly clear. Calvert-Lewin remains the linchpin in Everton’s attacking arsenal. iNews reports that inside sources confirm the club’s active efforts are laser-focused on reinforcing their ranks with talent who can share the goal-scoring load, not on discarding their seasoned striker.

FC Midtjylland are insisting that Emiliano Martinez is not for sale amid interest from Premier League trio West Ham United, Everton and Luton Town.

As sporting director Svend Graversen is at pains to point out, in conversation with ViaPlay, the two-time Uruguay international is only a few months into the five-year contract he signed with Midtjylland in late-2022.

Lyon have enquired about the availability of Southampton's Croatian defender Duje Caleta-Car

Russell Martin has already earmarked a potential defensive replacement in Everton's Mason Holgate. Former England youth international Holgate found his opportunities at Goodison Park limited last term as Everton narrowly escaped relegation on the final day

Leeds United have ‘closed the door’ on Everton as they continue to pursue Wilfried Gnonto this summer. That’s according to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who says the Blues may need to do some convincing to get one of their primary targets in this window.

Genuardi reports that after missing out on Almeria’s El Bilal Toure, who is close to joining Atalanta instead, Everton have pressed ahead with their efforts to sign alternatives.

Leeds United are reportedly open to the sale of Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto this summer leaving the door wide open for Everton to make their exciting summer moves.

Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross reported on 19 July that both Summerville and Illan Meslier are expected to leave this summer along with Junior Firpo if the right offers arrive before the window closes.

Everton target Rogerio will be allowed to leave Serie A outfit Sassuolo this summer with a move to the Premier League on the cards for the attack-minded left-back.

That is according to Giovanni Carnevali; Sassuolo’s typically-outspoken CEO. Rogerio, Carnevali points out in discussion with Gazzetta dello Sport, is out of contract in the summer of 2024. And unless he extends his stay at the Mapei Stadium, Sassuolo will look to cash in now before the former Juventus defender is allowed to leave for absolutely nothing. This should be music to Everton ears (Tuttomercatoweb).

It's the nature of them. I must admit, I did wonder if Onana was a phantom bid, but no one would think Myko or McNeil would be because they're not big targets.

It's the ones that seem too good to be true. And the ones that drag on conveniently for the club to not get them through.

Because if we don’t push we end up with maupay.

And while I think we should put some pressure on by giving a deadline, we also need to show we want him because him feeling like we would do whatever it takes to get him will have an impact.
He isn't the only striker in world football

Yeh, it does fell like that but, I honestly think we are making the bids but just really badly. Diaz was a goer if they would accept our pathetic terms as is Bilal.
