We need Gnonto and Ihenacho. If Gray goes maybe another forward. Not sure we will get a CB though too..

But most of all we need new owners. A full 100% takeover.

Jordan Henderson could probably buy us now with his new contract!

Can play right and centrally
Yeah I know, thought I’d just bed wet like most of the other posters who don’t do any research about players and who will respond with “but we already have McNeil, Danjuma, possibly gnonto on the left, we need a right winger!!!!”

Despite them all regularly having played across the front 3.

Paul Joyce’s article this morning told us the constraints on Thelwell when he pointed out Almeria were prepared to do a deal with a very low down payment but that most other clubs were not. EBT was likely not our first choice he was just the first one where we could find a workable deal. This is because cash raised so far has gone towards director compensation, stage payments on past transfers and operating/stadium cash flow.

So we either have to find people willing to pay real £ for Maupay, Gray, Holgate, Gbamin et al (bar Gray we will be lucky to get loans) or we are stuck looking at loans, frees or teams willing to sell for inflated fees in exchange for a low initial payment. There are always lots of teams competing in this pond.

I am not convinced Thelwell is the right guy with the right connections and experience to turn us around but anybody would be struggling trying to operate under such restrictions.

We should be blaming Moshiri and Kenwright, not Thelwell and Dyche IMO.

Unfortunately the problem that Thelwell is having with players is also the reason why we have Thelwell and not a better DoF and why we have Dyche and not a better manager (Not a dig at Dyche, I think he's done well so far with the resources available). From top to bottom we have been poorly run for far too long and it's made it an almost impossible job for anyone to succeed. I do think Thelwell appears to be trying to make the right moves by going for a mix of youth and experience and because he isn't the best he will make mistakes but I think the profile he's looking at are fairly decent in the sense of good young players with a lot of potential (Onana, Garner, Toure etc.) and senior pros that can bring quality and leadership in the dressing room (Young, Coady etc.)

Not to say he doesn't have his faults though. The failure to bring in a striker thus far is ridiculously bad and it's looking like if one does come in they'll only have one pre-season game, if that. That's a catastrophic failure and he will be heavily judged by that if we don't do well this season and we don't see some more players in before Fulham.

"Legacy" issues.

It's why it's a bit daft a lot of people end up fuming when Che Adams or Nacho are thrown about. They fit our system and if we get them over the line, we're in a better position than last season.

As usual with most summer windows the tick box of resale value, age, mixed with experience or great scouting for the Football Manager heads completely forget about the reality the club is operating in.

Doesn't mean we can't take a punt on some Japanese wonderkid for a couple mill...but we're not in a position to be gambling.
