We need a target man, yes as we can’t rely on DCL, and I appreciate that playing more than one way probably necessitates changes to our midfield, it are we only ever going to play one way? We need to be dynamic….I don’t think it would hurt to have a striker who plays on the shoulder of the last defender and possibly Vardy is the wrong shout (I just don’t stereotype) but it is something I think we need to consider. We’ve scored the fewest goals of any season in thr top flight we have played because we did not have a target man, but there were also no alternative styles of play we could adopt

I think what you are talking about, we already tried, with Maupay and playing Gordon through the middle and it was woeful. We don’t have the funds to overhaul the squad, we need to play one way well. If we had a fit Target Man last season, we would have easily had turned 3 of those draws into wins, we would have been safe with 2 games to go, if not more. With Dyche in charge for a full season and a real target man we could be on 40 points by Easter and a year of stability, I would take that.

Where on earth is this idea coming from that we could get Vardy on a low wage? The fella literally earns more than any of our playing squad. He's going into the last year of a bumper contract, the last serious money he'll earn in his life, why would he take like a third of what he's on, which is what it would take to bring 140k/ week down to a reasonable level? Try explaining that to Rebekah!
For the very same reasons people syrupy don’t want him…he is 36. Look all I have said is we could consider it, if and it’s a big if we did approach him i,m not saying he would come….we could potentially make him a take it or leave it offer. If he is not prepared to take a low wage, he can stay and see out the remainder of his playing career in the championship but with the money he is on, and the financial trouble Leicester are in, it wouldn’t surprise me if they released him. Anyways time to move on

Gordon is not a striker in that sense and Maupay, is simply lucky to be a footballer at this level. Better players make the system work better, i think we have to brace ourselves for a low spending summer (Dych indicated this in his press conferenc) and I suspect a lot of any transfe activity will take place in August

None of this is how contracts work. They've agreed to pay him 7m next season. They can release him, but they have to pay him the 7m owed under the contract. He might agree to reduce his salary out of the goodness of his heart to help Leicester but that would likely be to stay and help them back up. In any case, in the last year of his last big contract, there's no way he's voluntarily reducing it by enough that we should pay it. The whole thing is a non-starter.

if we end up having to play Keane then we'll be in the same boat next season

The problem is that Keane is always fit and whoever we buy ahead of him doesn’t stay fit. So even if he’s in the squad as a fifth choice CB he eventually ends up in the starting line up and the relegation form starts.

He just needs to be punted far away from the club. I’d have any youth CB we have over him if needed, I’d have a traffic cone over him.

I have a feeling fans are not going to be happy with the names and profile of player we go for.

We need to trust the process now and let the manager build his squad.

I have a feeling we could bring in an older target man to help DCL out....a player happy to not play every week, but is good eough to fill the void left by DCL when he is out. They are hard to get hold of.

Yep….like most of the ideas discussed in this forum - the chances are the club isnt even considering him - I was just raising it to see what people thought

Sure, and I'm not having a go or anything just I've seen a few people bring up the idea of Vardy as a cheap option when he'd be the exact opposite.

No they wouldn't.

We need first choice players so Iwobi never plays.

DMs...Iwobi doesnt play there you oblong.

View attachment 212253Notice how it says nothing about Keane. Dyche will have the moron straight in the team. Probably a new contract in the offing too.

It's outrageous. Keane and Holgate should be the first out the door. Godfrey's awful too but at least has some recovery pace. Genuinely can't stand the idea of Keane pulling on an Everton shirt again. He's so bad it hurts the eyes.
Lets see if we punt those 2.

🤣

Look, I actually think Branthwaite has the potential to be a top player. But we need to keep Keane away from the team. He is one of the worst CBs I've ever seen. Titus Bramble bad. People also need to remember that we are losing proper leaders from the team in Mina and Coady. I know Tarkowski has a bit of that, but not enough imo.

Branthwaite's a kid and as for Michael the mouse . . . 🙈

He may be a kid but PSV rave about him and theyve seen some incredible centre backs like Koeman and Stam.

The Krauss lad looks good, know nothing about this lad though. Where would this leave James Garner? Are these Onana replacements (wouldn't have thought so as they are quite different). Seems strange to me.

Particularly when we have one of the worst CBs in the PL in Keane about to be our starting CB and a non-existant forward line.

In MF weve got Gana, Garner and Onana...we need one more.

Is anyone else annoyed that we sold £80m of players in January alone (Gordon and Kean) and are still being told we have no money to spend?

Cant see Holgate going anywhere the Dudes on a bumper contract here he wont be getting anywhere else. Beleive Newcastle hold an interest in Godfrey.
