Might be $500mil not including player sales.

I wonder what the net is since Moshiri came in...cant be too high.

And what Moshiri has bought he has recouped a great deal of it back, when the media talk about how much Everton splurged in those first 4 years of Moshiri they never include that. I would love to know what our nett spend is for the 7 years Moshiri has been here, I think a lot on here would be surprised how low it is.

In January 2023 the Guardian estimated the net spend under Moshiri at £300 million. £700m spent Vs £400m recouped.
No idea how accurate that is. Sounds about right.

Sounds about right, the figures do look distorted due to the first 3 years when Moshiri went nuts spending what we couldn't account for. But £300m over 7 years in the Premier league is chicken feed, less than £50m a season. The manager situation is an absolute joke, that's cost us a pretty penny, that's poor ownership and a poor weak Chairman.

I opened a thread a couple of years ago with all the signings and sales totalled.

It worked out at around £50-55mil a season.

Since then weve sold more than bought so will be below £50mil a season.

Id guess were at £40mil max.

Wages are the biggest issue, for every football club.

Net spend is not a great metric.

Wages, sacking managers, agents fees are what has killed us.

Of course overpaying for garbage like Iwobi doesnt help.

Fair enough but the game has changed immesly in that time. Its far more attacking and goals dependant. We got 90 points in 84/85 from 42 games but won it by 13 points, our biggest away win that season was by a 2 goal margin.Same in 1970, there weren't many goals from us that season.
RS got 97 points and never won it a few years back, City often get 100 points and goals. Its all about scoring plenty of goals to win games now. We don't have many in the team.
Now it's a two division Prem. Look at some of the thrashings that the top six handed out to the lower teams over the last few seasons. It's not that rare for us to ship five now.

Gomes, Gbamin, Alli, Holgate, Godfrey and soon to be Maupay. That's about half a million a week being flushed down the toilet on players who won't play or will play a handful of games only and contribute nothing positive at all to the side. I am certain at least five of them will still be here after the deadline.
Alli & Godfrey will be here at the close of the window

Gbamin, Gomes, Holgate & Maupay will likely all be loaned out with us paying towards their wages. Gomes & Gbamin will then leave on free transfers at the end of the season

I understand (a bit) the high wages impact regarding transfer options, but does anyone know how much in manager and back room staff compensation/payoffs we've paid out in the last few years. Or are we still paying for some?

I was just gonna say we are writing off Godfrey too early, then looked him up and he's 25.. one year younger than Holgate lol honestly thought he was about 21

Chelsea definitely have longstanding interest in Onana. But I imagine they’ll quickly wrap up Adams and Lavia for a combined 70m, which is far better than paying 111m for Caicedo anyway.

If anyone does fancy Onana that Caicedo number has just put the price up by at least 20m.

The Brighton sales have been insane, especially when you consider the amount of signings we get nothing back on.

Caicedo, Cucarella White, Macallister, Bissouma, Trossard, Sanchez, Burn.. Well over £300 million for that lot.

And Maupay too..

….if you truly are ‘from the Eighties’, I suggest you look at Reid/Bracewell goal returns from central midfield and whilst your at it, Kendall and Harvey’s. Arguably our greatest defensive CM pairings hardly crossed the half-way line, goals came from other areas of the team.
very , very true but we had Sheedy and Steven in midfield and Mountfield at the back who would all be top goalscorer in this team.

Add Cucurella and Sanchez to that too!
