Just out of interest, which clubs do you think would be in for those players at those values?

(Gray for £10m I grant you is not unrealistic, but the rest? I doubt anyone would pay anything close to those numbers for what is essentially Championship fodder - assuming they'd even be willing to leave of course).

How many prem players go for less than 10m?

I don’t know who would be in for them but someone would .

Didn’t westham have interest in Keane.? Actually Forrest were linked to.

Holgate has had interest from Eddie Howe in the past

Godfrey is a prem cb in his mid 20’s would be ideal for one of the newly promoted teams or a team that misses their targets and has to panic buy

It’s like harry mguire .. who will want him ? I don’t know … but I know that someone will

So basically, lets just sign the cabbages that Spurs splooged a wedge of moolah on and can't get in the team ahead of Davison Sanchez or Emerson Royal.

(I'm actually surprised that isn't our strategy now I think about it...)

Any major signing this summer will be a cast off to some degree. Newcastle want to sign Kieran Tierney and are being linked to Conor Gallagher, these are cast offs from annual top 6 teams but Newcastle clearly believe both can improve their squad at least.

Saha was a cast off from Man. United and did a solid job for a couple of seasons before the injuries occurred again.

It makes no sense imo to replace Mina and Coady with a CB over 30 so will be a CB in the reasonably experienced but still has something to prove category.

Also wonder about someone like Rob Holding. Can't say I rate him too much in his rare games for Arsenal each season (their title challenge collapsed as soon as Saliba got injured) but he is very tall so it's a case of starting from being solid from set pieces again next season.

Big risk to sign someone inexperienced with premier league aswell. All it takes would be for Tarks to be out for a month and they'd be a chronic lack of leadership at CB.

It simply has to be an area Dyche can quickly improve with 2-3 solid signings as this squad simply isn't capable of scoring enough to win games if 2s and 3s are still going to be conceded on regular basis next season.

Forest wanted Keane on loan last summer. Didn't happen and they actually picked up Wily Boly for a couple of million from Wolves.

Godfrey imo is completely broken atm and needs time away from the game to find himself again. Didn't shock me at all he didn't feature again this season after the Newcastle game so I don't think anyone will be even making enquiries until they see him play for 5-6 games next season.

Holgate if pitched right should be picked up by a top 10 club in the championship. Could just hang onto him as pure squad player but Palace away shows his limitations.

'someone' sounds like wishful thinking to me. Would be amazed if any club offered anything more than nominal fees for those players - we'd probably accept but the players may not want to go.

Forest & West Ham's transfer targets will have changed now they're safe, Eddie Howe isn't signing relegation-threated EFC's 4th choice defender Holgate for Champions League Newcastle, and Godfrey is Championship at best. "Slabhead" is club captain of one of the biggest names in the world and England's first choice - that alone gets him a move to a top-half-ish team (despite being garbage). We could be stuck with these jokers for another season.

Not surprised Begovic is leaving not had game time with us
Solid sign that Pickford will stay. Maybe we will see links to that Hermansen at Brondby again.

Cant fault Begovic if he wants to get more games in the last few years of his career.

Prior to the last two years I was more confidant with Begovic. To say he is a poor keeper is ridiculous. Pickford has been excellent these last two years but with a better side it would be less critical.
I dont want him sold but he is one of two we may have to sacrifice to generate cash. Sophie's choice I know
He is a poor keeper. Terrible with his feet, average reflexes and positioning and really poor at commanding his box for such a big keeper.

And to your first point: we won't have a better side than we've had the last 2 years, certainly not significantly better. We obviously need to move to a level where we move players on for good money and have good replacements already in place. But we are years off that yet. Sides like Brighton generally buy these players cheaply and then loan them out for a season or 2 or use them sparingly for a few seasons. We have such little money that we can't do that.

So with that in mind, look at how well we have got on the last few years from selling our best players. Mina has just gone out the door too. Realistically it would be generous to say that we have more than 5 really good players. So we absolutely are not in a position to move on one of the ones that is. We've been so badly run that we have to avoid (for at least a year now) allowing any more of our best players to leave.

I'm not sure Dyche has been fully alert to how we do things at Everton. NEVER let players go BEFORE you get players in here...as the promised quality players just don't materialise! With Mina and Coady off...I'd be very surprised if we don't start next season with Tark, Kean and Holgate! And when one of those gets injured/sent off it'll be a toss up between playing Demarai as makeshift striker or makeshift centre back!! 🤔
Branthwaite is dropping into the squad maybe

Begovic leaving is the first surprise of the summer. A couple of different salary sites have put him on ~£40k p/w though, and Dyche is probably looking at that and thinking the wages could be used better elsewhere/we need to trim the wage bill hugely. Big saving, though I’ve always considered him one of the better backups in the league. Do quite like how ruthless we’re being so far.
Exactly. £2m pa for someone who never plays is a lot. Now it's just a question of how much it costs to get a replacement....

Davies not posted owt on SM confirming his departure.

Would have thought he would have been first out the door!

Eff we letting Begovic go for???

Why not?

But you're also asking a huge thing of just replacing him as if its going to be really easy.

He has been a massive contributing factor to Everton not going into the championship. To actively want to sell him would be insane. We need to raise funds, for sure, but Onana is the one that can go with much, MUCH less damage done than pickford going would do.

We'd be begging for his replacement to of his level, becuase if his replacement wasn't his level, and was in goal last season or the season before, we'd have gone down. Don't underestimate how important it is to have a keeper who can be counted on when it matters.

Imagine if West Ham had sold Rice with that logic...

You should ALWAYS sell players in their prime years for their peak value. Then reinvest.

…..not forgetting the really good reviews Harry Tyrer got on loan at Chester. He made the leagues team of the year. I’d already prefer him to JV but I’d prefer me to JV.

1 year on Virginias deal. Im expecting him to be punted out on loan until his deal expires.
Begovic has retired, and is now focusing on his goalkeeping academy business.

Good luck to him ;)

With Coady and Mina leaving, our defence is in an absolute shocking state that will not keep us in the Premier League without serious investment. Tarkowski is okay, but every other defender is absolutely awful and way off premier league standard.

Sorting our defence out is now just as, if not more important, than improving our attack.
This doesnt make sense to me...Tarkowski, Patterson and Branthwaite are a lot better than just "ok". I dont mind Mykolenko either although an attacking full back could add another dimension -- is that even how Dyche wants to setup?
