I’ve had a look at it and I haven’t got a clue what he’s on about.

Something to do with sell on fees due to the club we bought Onana from - I think ?
Thats the truth fans just see it as straight forwards - if he was going we would have cashed in a big way by now - Chelsea prepared to pay 115 million for an unknown Brighton player & some fans on here think 50 million sound good FGS !

They dont realise if we sell we have to pay his parent club ..... simple

Lavia is only 19 though, I know Onana is only 21 but at 19 he has a year in the PL and looked very good. Clearly the professional scouts working for RS and Liverpool (who I would suspect are better at judging a player's ability than you or I) think Lavia is the player to go for, otherwise the bids would be for Onana
This is a bit of a daft argument... it's not like clubs have never signed a player while leaving a better player "on the table". You can also pretty much discount Liverpool, as the chances of them coming in from a player from us are minimal.

Also discounts the fact that (if reports are to be believed) Man Utd think Onana is the better bet, or they could have gotten involved for Lavia weeks ago.

There's lots of arguments for not selling Onana, but "we're already in profit" isn't one of them.
Oh yes there is, theres no positive to the teams performance to sell a player purely to profit the owners with no replacements coming in. As a fan you shouldnt want them even entertaining the idea of selling yet another player when you are +22m this window and were +20-30m last year.

It's stiill money off the asking fee, though 60-80 million we may be interested.....
If he was going, he would have gone by now anyway - United are just being stupid, we have already told them to sod off ....

Good point about Liverpool. But Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all needed a DM this window. Rice to Arsenal, Caicedo to Chelsea and Lavia to either Chelsea or Liverpool. It is telling that none of them had bids in for Onana. I am not trying to say he is a bad player. He is a very good player but imo his ability and value it being over estimated on here by quite a few

"With no replacements coming in" is a big assumption (relating to the Onana sale).

Obviously if we don't use the money it's a daft deal at any price. But Brighton were "already in profit" before selling Caicedo for £115m. Doesn't mean they shouldn't do it.

If we sold him and didn't spend the money, then the argument for not selling him wasn't "we're already in profit", it was "we didn't use the money to improve the team".

Couldn't care less that we're already in profit if we sell Onana, reinvest and come out of the deal with a better squad.

Apart from a very few games I saw Lavia get trampled on in Southamptons midfield most times I saw him.

Liverpool thought Naby Keita was judged right.

Not every signing is judged right.
