I imagine thousands of players have been scouted. Scouting a player and then going and bidding for, and then actually buying them, are completely different things.
Exactly. Scouting a player is the process of seeing whether they fit are requirements rather than simply being a good footballer, if that makes sense.

There are lots of players who we'll scout, get reports about but say no thank you - not because they aren't good footballers, but the price, position or attributes.

To quote someone I know, it's about 'fitting the profile'.

No striker today as it’s “Thinking Tuesday’s”

Yes. Brands scouting a player doesn’t mean he would’ve bought that player.

i thought roman legging them would of been the castle falling down

nope they get even more money and players

But when Roman left they almost collapsed.

The whole point of P&S is being able to keep the club operating in a sustainable way if profits fell.

Chelsea don't make champions league this season...or next...then you start to peel back the operations...won't be pretty

It will come back to bite them eventually, but for whatever reason (short-sightedness, delusion, corruption) they think they can play the system.

To be fair to them, they have brought in a fair bit this summer through sales (north of £200m+ apparently), so their net spend this summer isn't terrible.

But, it's the previous windows that will do them unless they can continue to sell to raise sizeable funds and somehow get away with the long-term contracts.

I've had my thoughts on this, yet isn't this what City are essentially being investigated for? It would be risky to try to do something similar when it's come to light.

Yet, I go back to the short-sightedness, delusion or corruption element, so maybe not. I think the prospect of buying young and long contracts will be attractive.

They are working under Poch, who likes to develop youth, but if it goes wrong they hold all the aces - seven or eight year contracts on very nice wages.

Sold/Pushed the majority to Saudi based on the fact PIF have links with the company investing in Chelsea. That going to continue?

If so, that is not a fair market.

They are taking a huge gamble aren't they ? Luckily for them Pochettino is a good manager, maybe they'll pull it off and get to the top again (at Liverpools expense right now).

Not right now IMO. Chelsea still look like a bunch of individuals. Liverpool are 2 signings away from being back to themselves I feel.

They're fighting for 1 spot cos I think City, Arsenal and if they don't fall foul of playing too many games, Newcastle are stronger than Chelsea ATM. That last spot will be United, Liverpool, Chelsea fighting all season

I find it a bit odd that so many players are desperate to go there. Would be interested to know if there is more to the deals than meets the eye.

I said the same. Such a plastic ruthless club that now has 35 players on the books. You're going for the wage.

As for wages...Simon Jordan didn't point that out that Chelsea have the highest wage bill in the league at £250mill a year.

So spending £1billion. Having a £250mill yearly wage bill and no champions league... they'll be having annual firesales to Saudi IMO

If we are interested in Daka and Leicester are willing to loan, why are we still umming and ahhing and monitoring and being interested etc.

Just go and get him, we’ve had about 2 and a half month’s to sort this, we’ve already sacrificed three points dilly dallying
They will keep him as a last resort at end of the window, they must prefer others.

If we can't move Maupay on then we won't be bringing in a new striker. DCL remains our first choice CF with Chermiti, Danjuma and Maupay as back up. Unless there is some unexpected movement in the next two weeks then that's what we are going with for the season
If this is the case then we need to stop wasting what little money we have on injured wingers and focus on strikers instead

It isn’t, but unless FIFA/UEFA/PL implement something now or retrospectively, there isn’t much we can do about it rather than sigh or crumble.

Long term, I still don’t think that either Chelsea or Saudi PL, whether we’re talking individually or collectively, is sustainable. The authorities will act.
