I know that you jest - but doesn't it feel like this is exactly how we operate?

His job is to find a more effective striker than Neal Maupay in world football - if he can't do that then he needs to retire immediately
If we can't move Maupay on then we won't be bringing in a new striker. DCL remains our first choice CF with Chermiti, Danjuma and Maupay as back up. Unless there is some unexpected movement in the next two weeks then that's what we are going with for the season

I stand corrected sir....Whats the difference?
A 'forward' refers to an attacking player that plays predominantly across the front line/out wide. Their main role is to progress the ball into the opponents third, create chances and chip in with assists & a handful of goals.

A 'striker' usually just refers to a centre forward, or someone who plays predominantly in a front two, who's primary job is to score goals/convert chances. The 'modern number 9' (like DCL) is also a profile of striker who's height & power can be utilised as an 'outball' used to create space and bring teammates into play on a quick transition.

Well he scored 5 goals last season. Only McNeil scored more for us. Doesn't matter who scores the goals so the more finishers we sign the better
Yep get it mate..but I suppose I was alluding to me being cynical and that thats this boards search for a forward is now done?

He'll be waiting to see if DCL comes through the behind closed doors friendly whenever that takes place.

If he comes through that, DCL on the bench ready to replace Maupay around the 70 minute mark.

If he breaks down with an injury, he'll make it a priority to start searching for a new striker Thursday morning
One thing that’s wrong on that is when Dyche has reintroduced DCL previously it’s only been when he’s ready to start games and he’s never come off early except when injured so when he’s back, expect at least an hour of Dom (further injuries withstanding)

I hope the rest of your post is wrong too because we need another striker whether Dom is feeling good this week or not

Thanks for the info

It will come back to bite them eventually, but for whatever reason (short-sightedness, delusion, corruption) they think they can play the system.

To be fair to them, they have brought in a fair bit this summer through sales (north of £200m+ apparently), so their net spend this summer isn't terrible.

But, it's the previous windows that will do them unless they can continue to sell to raise sizeable funds and somehow get away with the long-term contracts.

I've had my thoughts on this, yet isn't this what City are essentially being investigated for? It would be risky to try to do something similar when it's come to light.

Yet, I go back to the short-sightedness, delusion or corruption element, so maybe not. I think the prospect of buying young and long contracts will be attractive.

They are working under Poch, who likes to develop youth, but if it goes wrong they hold all the aces - seven or eight year contracts on very nice wages.
Thin line between delusion and ambition.

It was interesting when they went for Potter - everybodys darling at the time but a big gamble to take the step up - made me think Boehly was a bit naive.

Thought Kevs article on the official site was interesting - made me think he dropped the ball for Maupay because he was focused on value rather than quality. Moneyball style - Maupay may have shown up well in stats due to low cost and reasonable goal return.

Lies, damned lies and statistics.

Maupay was scouted by the previous regime as well, was also a potential target for Brands.

Lol, i think as has been said before Boehly is like our own Moshiri. Just with more money and slightly madder. I think they have a good strong manager now though so i expect him to steady the ship and control the chaos.
I hope Sean is doing the same behind closed doors with our Mad hatter..

I believe Fernandez is bring paid around 300k a wk so if they're offering similarly absurd wage packages to all prospective players it would make sense why players are so keen to play for a non champions league team even though they do have recent prestige it's still perplexing. Even cucurella who has been incredibly underwhelming is supposedly on 175k wages which pnce again doesn't seem sustainable

Nor is he a left or right sided midfielder either. I think in his own head, at least, he'd want to play as a number ten, but we all know that's an unlikely scenario here.

If I had to choose the best position that he will potentially play here, it would be the CM role - it was when he looked his best for us (think of that purple patch).

Personally, Doucouré gets a raw deal from many of our fans: he ain't perfect, yet we're far better off when he's in the team with his energy and dogidness.

He is a winger for me, doubles up with his full defensively quite well and gets away more with his lapses, in CM he plays apart from his fellow cm's, doesn't understand the position and if he gives the ball away as a CM its usually in a more dangerous position. He cannot play there and moving him away from the center was one of the first things Dyche did.

Agree entirely on Doucoure, the lads out to get him will only shut up if he scores, everything else he does they will ignore.
Was awful vs fulham i would have taken him off and out iwobi as the 10. As much as people hate and myself included is one of the most creative players we have in the team iwobi, if dacoure is not on it and we have danjuma harrison mcneil even gnonto is sonething we should try
