I would count him as backup, in that he shouldn't be anywhere near the side and Saints fans laugh at how wasteful he is in front of goal. Iheanacho or Daka may push Dom if he's fit for a staring place, but I doubt it. Ekitike or Beto I could imagine taking his place if all goes well.

Don't know of any other strikers we've been linked with. But we need to be doing better than a backup that doesn't score. If DCL is out all season again, or so riddled with injuries that he doesn't score, we need a forward who will get 10 goals or more. That is not Adams. It is unlikely to be Daka or Iheanacho.

I know we can't go out and get a 20 goals a season striker, but we should be trying to get someone who may have the potential to do it, not someone who you know wouldn't do it even if they were allowed to play double the games of every other forward in the league.
Can’t disagree with that, but due to our situation, attractiveness and finances in very oversimplified terms we may have choose someone who would very probably score 10 per season, or someone who “might” score 20 but could very likely score 2 due to being a bit of a inexperienced punt.

Everyone rightly hates the idea of signing PL experience, often donkeys that have sat on a bench for 2 seasons, or have plodded along in a squad no better than ours. But if we sign loads of potential and NONE of it fires this season, we go down. It’s a nasty balance we have to get right. If Kev had any credit in the bank I’d pity his options.

If the options are sign Daka or Adams immediately or continue to wait and see what develops with Ekitike and/or Beto then I can muster a bit of patience...
only there comes a time when you have to go to plan B. As strikers are very hard to get and if say Daka goes elsewhere and maybe Southampton do not want to offload Adams on deadline day we are really scraping the barrel or have nothing.

Daka / Adams with the 3 aatcking players signed already and hopefully Gnonto too means a good upgrade compared to what we had.

In which case, it should be Daka or Iheanacho. Iheanacho has a good goals to minutes ratio and Daka has scored a lot of goals in Austria. Adams is to be avoided at all costs.

However, I still maintain it would be better to pursue Ekitike or Beto of those we have been linked with. Maybe there's an outside the box name the club are looking at that we aren't aware of, but this being Everton. . .
