If the gnonto negotiations end up in the 30 million range we should attempt to sign Brennan Johnson instead I'd imagine 35-40 would be enough ,he has experience in the league and more importantly has demonstrated he can score goals from the wings which we need as much as a new striker
Brennan Johnson is class

I'm a closet Welshman so am staggered he didn't get more game time for them at the WC

But we're not getting him, so yeah

I genuinely think the club are dragging their feet because once again they believe in Calvert Lewin staying fit, look at how much they’re pushing his rehab and all that. No other injured player has ever gotten such attention.

Pure guesswork but I think they’ll chance him coming back and being fit until the window closes at least, maybe getting another backup in on loan instead of maybe having to shell out £30m on someone like Beto who they probably think they can get late in the window if they really have to.

I think if DCL was out until Christmas or something from this latest injury we’d have had a new striker in as a priority for preseason. Think it’s clear that they’re banking on him though.

Look to be honest I think Dom based on ability when fully fit is definitely the best striker we could possibly have so I sort of understand the mindset and if he is actually past his injury problems then we’d have no issues, the fact is though it is an enormous gamble and I think every fan expects him to break down again, most likely sooner than later.

Two seasons of injuries says he won't be fit for the whole season. TWO SEASONS

Posted this in the DCL thread. Dom is a good player when fit, but that's the thing when fit we cannot and I repeat cannot rely on him for another season. If we do it a third time and don't bring in another experienced striker we are going to struggle again. We may not be so lucky to stay up too. If the club are relying on him again it's utter insanity.

Agree with you about the club banking on Dom again. It's so stupid. He has a history of injuries that have kept him out for large stretches of multiple seasons. Even when he has been fit, he only showed as a top class striker for a four month period under Ancelotti.

We should be looking for a new first choice striker and let DCL fight for his spot. Instead. We continue to search for "back ups" with no real intention of them competing with DCL for his spot, and are really only there for cover if (when) he gets injured.

In 12 months' time Dyche will still be playing Young and Coleman (new deals), Keane and Doucoure (new deal) mate. No way he transitions the team to youth so quickly. Not his way.

Plus, Onana will be the big sale next summer to keep us ticking over.
In 12 months time, we'll be looking to the future with a new stadium and a herd of Donkeys out the door.
I doubt Dyche will be part of that future.

Brother come on

The club are trying to get an injured player fit and you think there's something to be read into there?

I've got news for you. When a player gets injured, clubs generally try to manage their rehab so they come back as fit and healthy as possible.

Get a grip

You’re misinterpreting me. I’m talking about the attention given in regards to media, interviews etc, not on the medical side obviously, any player should get the absolute best in class care to make sure they can come back at 100% in every case.

The dialogue about this spell since Dyche has come in is that he’s going to “fix” Dom once and for all, whereas many other times it would simply be said that this player has a knock, he’s out for x weeks or whatever.

There is a concentrated effort by the club to basically have faith and patience because this time it’ll be worth it because he’ll come back fit, I imagine they’re doing this because they know large portions of fans are fed up and many others don’t have faith in him to come back properly. Like I said originally, I hope the club are right and he is able to overcome it because he’s a huge asset to the club as a fit striker.
