Summer transfer window 2023

Yes he is, at times.

On 3 July 2019, Félix signed a seven-year contract with Spanish club Atlético Madrid for a transfer fee of €126 million
You're having a go at Simeone for a transfer fee?

Take a look at the CB pairings that have provided the rock for Athletico in recent times. If he thinks Söyüncü is worth a punt I'd be inclined to pay attention.

There's one position on the pitch that Dyche doesn't need lessons on, it's centre back. Always tends to have decent cb partnerships. Branthwaite will be in the equation next season. Keane will be a bench warmer i think. We need midfielders and defo a couple of decent strikers.

June 14th the window opens.

I mean, I'm as desperate to see incomings as anyone else, but is there not a rush to judge here?

Dyche will have players lined up who will have committed to him, I feel sure of that. Already, to all intents and purposes, 'Everton players'. If, for whatever reason, we have to wait a few weeks to get the ball rolling and see this materialise, then we have to wait a few weeks.

IMO he'll defo have a new strike force in prior to pre-season. I think that because he'll be looking to work on systems with the squad, and he wont want to introduce players fundamental to that with a week before the season starts. He's too much a of a planner to let this drift.

You have no idea what type of manager he is.

I know he places great emphasis on preparedness.

It's inconceivable to me that he hasn't got players in the bag and ready to announce.

Dyche will be looking at getting to 4th July and pre-season training with a couple of forwards signed. He'll get them too....no doubt they wont be acceptable to the clever people, but if Dyche thinks they can do a job I'll be on board.

Sounds similar to Lampard this time last year, particularly in the striking dept.
IMO he was badly let down and had to scramble around picking up dregs like Maupay.

Or Thelwell may have finally learnt a very valuable lesson.

Or Same dance a year on.

Agree with this, we can’t keep selling our best players and getting worse.

It’s like Richarlison last season, was a stupid deal, despite being clapped by many and we couldn’t score, penetrate or create all season and circled the drain.

We’re seen as a soft touch in the market. Feeder club for Newcastle and Spurs, time to stick two fingers up and act like a proper football club.

Selling to reinvest is the club weeing down your back and telling you it’s raining. Don’t fall for it again.

The counter is though mate, that Brighton sold their best players and got better.

We did under Moyes.

And honestly the £100m we got for those 2, should be able to be used for new players to offer us more than what we had from those 2.

Lamaprd should have insisted the moment Richarlison left his replacement was walking through the door. He was seduced by the notion that DCL could stay fit.

Even with a fully fit DCL we badly needed another striker.

Huge let down by Thelwell & the board , last seasons problems all started before a ball was kicked.

Let's hope Dyche doesn't get the same treatment.

I seriously don’t think the Everton fanbase, and certain sections of this forum, could deal with having an average PL keeper. Pickford has been virtually faultless for 2 and a half seasons and kept us in absolutely key games in the run ins with world class saves, and he’s still taken absolute dogs abuse at times for goals that arguably weren’t even his fault. Some of the fan base still hasn’t forgiven him for the Origi incident despite him quite frankly not being able to do much about a complete mishit that bounced perfectly on the top of his bar. Doesn’t matter that he’s probably won those points back and more in the derbies that have followed.

Look at some of the goalkeeping ‘prospects’ in the PL recently in Meslier and Bazunu, they’d be lambs to the slaughter for the fanbase.

If we follow a recruitment tactic of selling Pickford to fund additions in other areas then there’s going to have to be a reset of expectations in the fanbase of what they expect from their goalkeeper because whilst you say there must be a goalkeeper out there who can replace him, it’s a keeper that United, Spurs, City, Arsenal, Chelsea have struggled to find so far.

Unless we pull off a recruitment miracle, I think there’d be a lot of fans revising their opinion of Pickford very quickly when they see another keeper up close every week.
I agree, but you’d hope the bottom portion is correct. You can find players, Raya at Brentford, Emiliano Martinez when Arsenal plucked from Argentina, even that lad Ortega fella City have bought from Germany, benfica plucked Jan Olbak from nowhere.

My point, there are players everywhere

Unfortunately we need to be in a position whereby we can get the most value out of our assets and having the assurances that the recruitment can fill the void. It’s simply how we must operate.

The reason people are scared of this model is because our recruitment team have been shambolic for 6 years.

There was no harm in selling Richarlison for £60m because we should have had 3 players ready to fill the void, or at least 1 and 2 for development over 12-18 months

The club needs a massive dose of reality
