Surely we can use Simms as a makeweight if we are after either Clarke from Sunderland or Gyokeres at Coventry.
Mackems wanted to keep him but we thought better off sitting on our bench/ploughing lone furrow up top against the RS, Coventry if we took Gyokeres could use as a straight replacement.

Gyokeres is the one I want.

You'd hope so. Simms isn't PL level yet. I think he could be in a few years and there's nothing wrong with that.

Not a striker but Shane Duffy is a good example, not Premier League level when we let him go but he worked on his game and didn't look out of place in the league when he came up with Brighton.

Should say that any funds we get from Simms would be straight profit for FFP as we brought through youth system.
If we had to pay £10m for Gyokeres and Simms in return it could go through the books as
£5m Simms straight to Profit
£15m Gyokeres (net £10m) - £3m a year (plus wages) on a 5yr contract

He might not fancy a move to Coventry...the Sunderland deal for Clarke seems the more obvious one I reckon especially with him having a decent run up there.

But that is not what makes a striker. So, we'll have a big lump with poor technique, who doesn't score but runs his heart out. You'd have been happy if we'd have paid £10m for Straqualursi then?
Of course not. A loan if Maupay leaves and we have another new starting ST. We should not pay a fee for a 30 years old.

We shouldn't be anywhere near him. Even on a loan. Need a forward who threatens the opposition goal every now and then. If he can't hit a barn door being supplied by Fernandes, then I don't fancy his ability to get on the end of one of Doucoure's trademark heavy touches.

Weghorst would be a disaster.

We don't have enough goals in the rest of the squad to sign a striker who doesn't score, that much should be obvious.

If we end up getting Dembele on a free i would much rather us spend whatever we have on a left footed right winger with an eye for goal. Been crying out for someone who can cut in from the right for years.

This. I'd even take a younger version of Andros Townsend - someone who takes care of the ball well and has an excellent shot.
