We sometimes forget in here that just playing in the Premiership is appealing to most footballers...we can't attract the top class performers but surely it's not outside the realms of possibility that we can get a couple of capable full backs and two half decent forwards...

I agree that avoiding panic buys by leaving everything to the last minute or messing up negotiations is key. We should identify half a dozen reasonable targets...I think we've been linked with some decent looking players...and sell ourselves as a club that is on the brink of a big change and has learnt from its mistakes. Some new signings won't work out..I thought Maupay looked a good bet, for example...but let’s at least approach the whole thing with some calm and professionalism
Have you watched him play? Like more than 10 minutes? People fall in love with names and stats.
I haven't watched him play a single second of football personally and I can tell he's rubbish.

The issue is we are no longer seen as a top club. There are about 12 clubs in the prem who are currently more attractive than us and so, any decent footballer will no doubts have offers from one or more of these clubs.

He really isn't. There is obviously the issue as to whether or not he can step up to the PL. But he is a good player.
He takes care of the ball well and creates chances as well as scoring a decent amount. Given the budget we are likely to have we are unlikely to get much better for the ££. That is unless we buy a kid really.
I'd rather have Gyökeres than Beto from what I've seen.

Coleman isn't really in the 'Long Term' part of his career anymore is he.

Player Valuation: £35m
6 live games in person last season. Best player on the pitch in 5 of them. Monster at holding the ball up with no support. Not brutally fast at all, but quicker than his frame suggests. Quick enough for a strong forward likely to be working alone a lot. Plenty of assists, but mostly shoots when he should and passes when he should. Good finisher, sometimes deft, other times just blasts.
Only doubts are transferring it to the PL. physically no problem at all. Easily strong enough. More intelligent defences, that’s the big unknown. He’s no kid, so why hasn’t he already made it at a higher level. On that basis £15m absolute max. They will ask for more once other clubs sniff around, and don’t think he will kick up a fuss so that helps their case.

Someone said on here the other week that the goals are all the same size whatever league they play in. Which isn’t wrong.
He did then suggest we sign a player from Wrexham, so I’m not sure if we should listen to him too closely.
