Also worth noting that we’re likely saving around £50k p/w from Townsend who was average at best before a horrible injury. Good sensible decision that. Got to keep attacking the bloated wage bill so we don’t have to sell a player every year just to survive.

Based on the lack of value for money they provide, Gomes, Alli, Gbamin, Keane, Godfrey, Holgate, and Maupay should all be up for grabs, though of course someone actually wanting them will be the problem. Kev needs to earn his corn here.

Might have been worth keeping Townsend for another year. I know he came back from ACL but good solid pro who'd be good backup winger with an eye for goal.

Might be a problem that seeing as he's barely done a day's work since joining us.

Keeping Lonergan round is just proper weird. Your third choice keeper should be a young lad, and we’ve also got Virginia knocking around. We clearly need to sign a decent backup as if Pickford gets injured Lonergan won’t be playing will he. Can’t see the sense in it.
Absolutely no team uses a young lad as 3rd choice keeper. A 3rd choice keeper is the most unique role at a club and is never ever a kid. If you can't see the sense then just look at every other clubs 3rd choices. Lonergan, Adrian, Carson, Heaton etc etc
