Tbh I think it's unrealistic to expect the club to have 0 transfer budget after the Gordon transfer in January and even as some are suggesting the Kean fee was accounted for in January too, that money doesn't just disappear because it came in in a different window. With some high wages off the bill, some departures as mentioned I don't think £50m net spend is unrealistic. Likewise KT can be smart with the spreading of payments across years/windows/add onsYes but where is that fifty million coming from?
I hope you are right but all indications are the financials are still tight and we are looking at loans and frees trying to move on saleable players, then will be selling an asset like Onana to fund spending.Tbh I think it's unrealistic to expect the club to have 0 transfer budget after the Gordon transfer in January and even as some are suggesting the Kean fee was accounted for in January too, that money doesn't just disappear because it came in in a different window. How is this bit still true?! Who are our big earners now? Pickford and Tarkowski, definitely. Iwobi and Doucoure, probably. Then who? Our tiny squad is full of dross, why are we paying them so much money?!It's not cheap running a football club
Especially when over 90% of your turnover goes on wages alone
We reward failure that's why. Most of the high earners are still here, Pickford, Gomes, Onana, Tarkowski, Godfrey, Gbamin, Keane, Alli, Mykolenko, Iwobi, and Doucoure are all on big money contracts, certainly way more than what they should be. No player should be on more than £100k per week imo, we just haven't done anything to justify paying anyone that sort of money, it's utterly ridiculous. How is this bit still true?! 90% is the figure up to the end of 21/22. It’ll have come down quite a bit as we’ve shed a lot of high earners since: Allan, Gylfi, Tosun, Richarlison, Delph and Mina have gone since summer 22 and probably averaged 100k a week each. Would help if we could shift Gomes and Gbamin this summer too.How is this bit still true?! Who are our big earners now? Pickford and Tarkowski, definitely. Iwobi and Doucoure, probably. Then who? A fifty million net spend this summer would still be a circa 15m net profit since the January window. It’s anyone’s guess what the club’s actual budget is and they aren’t going to advertise it, but a spend in that region shouldn’t be totally unrealistic.Yes but where is that fifty million coming from?

This could work for me but if you're putting Simms out on loan again you might as well sell him. He's 22 and will turn 23 this season - he's not a youth player anymore. If we can generate a fair transfer fee for him we should take it. I'd also look to put Mills out on loan (a similar stint to Cannon could prepare him for next season). I'd also argue we need a starting RM as a big priority - it's an area we just haven't fixed in yearsSummer Window

The above is how I’d be working towards fixing the squad. We won’t fix it all in one window, but this would be an incredible start.
We’ve actually made some excellent progress with trimming the fat (albeit inadvertently with contracts initially being offered to Davies & Begovic only for them to turn them down! Coleman also offered but still yet to sign)
If we are somehow able to pull off the above, we could then look at fixing either the DM (Gueye) or RW (Gray) position in January.
Then going into summer 2024 in a much healthier position, priority being to do the other (RW or DM) and replace Doucoure (end of contact) and probably look at another CB for Tarkowski.
It's so depressing how much money we are paying to mediocre or non-playing personnel. To be honest, I'd forgotten about Gomes, Gbamin and Alli who, between them, are probably pulling down close to £300k a week. We're a shambles.Gomes, Gueye won't be cheap, DCL, Coleman is on 70'000 so I believe, could be wrong, Keane ex England international, Godfrey and Onana will be on a decent wedge with their transfer fee's.
It looks lovely but I hope your defences against disappointment are in good nick. I have a horrible feeling your dreams will be crushed this summer. Soz.Summer Window

Going to have to spend as much as we can in the summer, with the hearing in October there's a chance we'll have a transfer ban for January.A fifty million net spend this summer would still be a circa 15m net profit since the January window. We also have 12 months to balance the books from July 1st, it’s whether moshiri or the new investors want to put the money down. Like what we did last year spent then recouped in January and maybe we sell before June 30th as wellI don’t think you’re a million miles off being realistic with your numbers and with the likely / possible transfers. Maybe 50m net is a touch high but a few more fringe sales of the likes of Gray etc could help. But bearing in mind amortisation etc getting money in the door can in accountancy terms fund more going out the door for the purposes of FFP.
