Summer transfer window 2023

I can definitely see us bringing in more players like what Coady, Tarkowski & McNeil are and have been, which is reliable players who can comfortably play over 35 games a season with no issues. Dyche wants reliability and consistency in his side I think. Fitness, athleticism, durability and reliability will come into what players we do/n't bring in this window for me.

Think that's why the smart money says players like, albeit the very average Ben Johnson and Maitland Niles will be seriously looked at due to them being versatile an cheap and the actual cash we've got will be spent on the specialist positions I.E Forwards.
I wouldn't mind that type of thinking / strategy.

One thing I would like to see but don't think we'll get is an emphasis on trying to get value in Europe/globally, rather than staying in the domestic comfort zone and overpaying in fees and wages as a natural consequence.

I'd like to see flexibility and creativity in whom we pursue and how we attempt to solve our problems, plus maximum use of the loan market.

There was promise with some of the business last summer but this window needs to be better. I don't expect perfection but I would like to some evidence of proper processes and scouting being followed, bearing in mind they've had months to prepare and know the constraints.

Is there even any evidence/links from reliable sources that were after Gyokeres? I know the rumour mill was flying in January but we were also linked to every striker under the sun.

So we haven't signed a player in June since pre 2018!!
Yep. And 2017 was the summer where we gave Steve Walsh a lorry load of cash and he bought Pickford, Rooney, Sandro, Sigurdsson et al and we were all buzzing at our transfer wizardry for getting everything done so early

Can't disagree with any of this pal.

The striker that we should be in for is Ndiaye, imo. I think he looks better than Gyokeres, and that he will more likely be a success in the premier league with the possibility of a big money move in the future.

He only has a year left on his contract, but Sheffield United will be screwed without him, so he won’t come that cheap. If we used the Gray and Simms cash to replace them with Ndiaye, then I think that would be a great upgrade at centre forward.

Yep. Out of all the strikers we have been linked with he is the only one that is a really exciting prospect

He started signing older players when the Chairman kept hold of the money as he was selling the club. Collins, Tarks, Westwood, Barnes, Wood, Cornet, Lowton, Pope, Keane, Vydra, Roberts, Brownhill, Taylor, Gibson, Gray, Gudmundsson, Hendrick, Brady, were all under 26 when he signed them. He got lucky with McNeil as, due to injuries, he had to play him and he took his chance.
He started signing older players in 2013, and those are great examples that you can cherrypick the opposite for in a lot of players post/around 30 and youths that never played more than a handful. In the ones you mention the majority are 25-26 year olds anyway, which is again "EXPERIENCED" players and not any kind of youth prospect. There's also a reason Burnley couldn't offload many of those for decent sums.

He also gave actual money for Wout Weghorst btw.

We shouldn't be about that life, but we ultimately are stuck with it anyway.

Any good news we may have in the next week or so....for example, I think signing Gnonto would be a good thing....Will be offset by the selling of Branthwaite. If he wants to go then there isn't much we can do about it but it will leave our defensive options for next season much weaker
I think that story about Branthwaite wanting to leave is nonsense.

He spoke a few short weeks ago after the end of the Dutch season that he was looking forward to getting back to Everton and getting involved in pre season and he is currently away with the England under 21s and probably focused on that.

It would be a strange time for him to start looking for a transfer.

12m for Weghorst isn't that bad really. Not like he got to play loads of games for the bloke who signed him either.

Burnley operated on a shoestring budget and the managers remit was to keep the club in the division.

Signing experienced players he knew he could trust gave him the best chance of doing that.

Everton this summer I feel will be a mixture of experienced players with some young players with potential.

Similar to last year really.
