Summer transfer window 2023

Not open for further replies.
A limited funds summer could look like:

Rodrigo or Danjuma: ~3m
Piroe: ~12m
Diallo or Sumerville: loan
Wharton or Martinez (or similar profile young CM): 5m
Free transfer or loan LB
free transfer or loan Keeper

So for 20-25 million we get about 6 in. For that to net out to next to no net spend we have to:

shed the wages (or at least half of them) for Gbamin, Gomes and Alli
sell Maupay for ~8m
sell Gray for ~10 m
sell Holgate for ~7m
sell Simms for ~5m

That likely represents our worst case type window*

*i hope

We need to stop the mentality of signing “squad” players. That type of thinking is part of what got us in this mess, as they’re impossible to shift further down the line.

We should be looking at two profiles of player here:

1. Will improve the starting eleven in his position now.
OR
2. Is a young player with good potential, who will be ready for the first team / make a profit if sold in the future.

Nothing else.

Nah. You're talking rubbish mate. There is zero evidence of Dyche playing good stuff - bar one goal his Burnley side scored against an Everton team averse to tackling.

We were horrible in possession - as were his Burnley side. Set pieces, although better than previous, were still awful.

The foreign shouts are so lazy it's not even worth getting into.

And if you think Dyche was 'saving' Mina, you've genuinely lost the plot. He put him back in when he realised that Michael Keane was going to relegate us - about 5 games later than everyone else.

You may he happy with continued low standards at this club - I'm fed up with it.
If he can get us to BMD still in the premiership then he's done his job, and can leave in good regards...

What we need to do is start focusing during that period and nailing down a list of the right Appointments ready and capable of taking us on and building a new club from scratch...

We could also go for Alvarez from Southampton, probably much cheaper and younger, with the potential to sell for much more in the future.

He looked 'exciting' and on a different wavelength to his teammates.

I see this forum is still full of people who don’t actually watch players before commenting on them.
Ability wise Garner is not even close to Ward Prowse but cos one came from United and one at Southampton, Garner is suddenly a better player.
Money wise we couldn’t afford JWP but would take a proven quality Pal player than some of the other players we get linked to.

JWP has 6 years on Garner, potentially Garner is the superior player.

Why do you think people wont agree Zat?

Because theres an 'anti-Everton' agenda creeping onto the forum. Seen all these situations before in the 90s especially, others havent and somehow think a premier league team isnt desirable for players.

Players want to play in this league.

Fella comes into his own when the transfer window opens. Bubbles bubbles bubbles.

Lad, you dont know the rules.

If they don’t agree it’s because they’re sick of your hard on for young players

Yet its been shown that buying young players and developing them was the way to go....not what Everton did.

Rodrigo is a massive waste of time for me. We need a target man.

Id rather we went for rapid players who can hit the target.

Having pace would allow us to play on the counter and be a threat.

To me it would be a poor deal for us. I'd hope Piroe was available for less, get him in, and ideally Dembele on a free with Rodrigo from Leeds. Sell Simms and Gray and hopefully Maupay.

I think Piroe and Gyokores could play as 9s, from the bits I've seen.

But yes, what we do with Doucoure becomes interesting. But I suppose after this season, we see the value in needing back up options.

El Bilal-Toure
Balogun
David
Wahi

...and the like make more sense to me. Pure pacs, a couple of them and a ball playing midfielder and were in business.

Thats illogical.

I hope they are just focusing on getting in a striker early, as the other positions can be taken care of at some point before the window ends.

I'm assuming they have loan targets, but will wait until late in the window to see what hole still need filling. At least that would be the competent thing to do...

Waiting until the end of the window would not be the competent thing to do at all. We do it every year and it never ever works out for us.

Exactly...then the first 11 players drop to the bench (to become squad players) as theyre replaced by new signings.

We shouldnt be signing 6 players or whatever, instead pooling our funds and going for quality.

Can’t complain if Rodrigo comes in. 3-5m quid and provides another striking option. Still need two more in that department mind.

Unfortunately that's how it works especially with loan players as Players Agents will wait which offer is the best for their players, unless you one of the big clubs the majority of loans happen last week

Partly agree because I think our first 11 of recent times was not too bad, but apart from one or two we had no quality on then bench (DCL / MAUPAY the best example). That is why players like Rodrigo & Danjuma etc decent signings as we operate on a small budget
