Any players we get in, have to be in for the pre season games and settled into a style of play before the 1st game of the season v Fulham.

We cannot waste fixtures like last season without a striker, you would hope this incompetent board would also know this ? 😉
We say the same every single year, it never happens, the leftovers don’t happen until the feast has ended.

Lavia - definitely

Ward Prowse won't be going anywhere..

Lavia will go to one of (cough) the top 6, the ONLY Saints player to enhance his reputation last season.

Ward-Prouse will leave if offered 100k + a 3yr contract. If no-one offers that the rumour is a season long loan at silly cost could be an option.

Remember the only good thing 'managed' by Saints in the last few years was a 40% wage cut clause for players if relegated, though most of this is refunded if they go back up this season.

Nah. You're talking rubbish mate. There is zero evidence of Dyche playing good stuff - bar one goal his Burnley side scored against an Everton team averse to tackling.

We were horrible in possession - as were his Burnley side. Set pieces, although better than previous, were still awful.

The foreign shouts are so lazy it's not even worth getting into.

And if you think Dyche was 'saving' Mina, you've genuinely lost the plot. He put him back in when he realised that Michael Keane was going to relegate us - about 5 games later than everyone else.

You may he happy with continued low standards at this club - I'm fed up with it.
Tbh mate I agree with the jury still being out as to wether Dyche can turn us into a good functioning attacking outfit.. BUT I think its very harsh to blame him for us being terrible in possession.. we don't have players in the squad capable of dominating possession so he had to get the best out of what we had.
Onana/Gana & Doucoure in my opinion are never going to control possession against most if not all prem league midfields

Yeah they could both play there, but it isn't their natural position and, even when they are the designated CF, they both drop really deep. Could be problematic in Dycheball with the ball being launched over our midfielders' heads.

As you say, perhaps being identified as options as a 2nd striker, who could also fill in as a 9 if DCL was not fit?

El Bilal-Toure
Balogun
David
Wahi

...and the like make more sense to me. Pure pacs, a couple of them and a ball playing midfielder and were in business.

Thats illogical.

I think there is a cost implication though, and someone of that ilk may only be available with a big sale.

We need to stop the mentality of signing “squad” players. That type of thinking is part of what got us in this mess, as they’re impossible to shift further down the line.

We should be looking at two profiles of player here:

1. Will improve the starting eleven in his position now.
OR
2. Is a young player with good potential, who will be ready for the first team / make a profit if sold in the future.

Nothing else.
Agree 100% & try & stop offering silly wages so that if a signing doesn't work out we have a chance of someone else paying them similar to us & allowing us to move them on

He should have been using Onana as a holding midfielder and paired him with Garner.

I think we can sell Simms, Gray and a centre back for an amount (plus Nkounkou/Stones clause) to be able to bring one of them in.

If they have huge funds avaiable from Rice, it's probably a deal that makes sense for all sides.

Agreed mate.

Would Davey mate - he’s not one id put down, for missing out on someone then going back for another 20 mill the following year, but who knows really.

Big market for central midfield this market and WHU with their cash may eat after Utd, Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Mordor add to their central midfields.
