we are now down to a 24 man squad

i also can't see gbamin staying so that is technically 23 players

i also can't see gomes, holgate and maupay sticking around either

it also wouldn't suprise me to see us sell onana if we received an offer in excess of 50 mil for him

we are going to start the season with a squad of less than 20 players aren't we

24?? I honestly just assumed we had about 16 senior players.

We don't even have a right winger, let alone enough players to field a full squad for the first preseason match, but Adama Traore isn't good enough to come in on a free transfer?
We can panic, bring in some (near) future deadweight and kick the can down the road for another year. Or we could have a considered recruitment policy that brought in players with some potential for growth

What if you still want to test yourself but would rather have a fighting chance of touching the ball in the final third more than every other match since the PL team doesn't play real football away from home or against anyone chasing Europe?
I'm not necessarily talking about the PL team being us, it sounds like there was plenty of interest. For me going to Portugal is something you'd want to do at 21 or 22 because you've got a few years there then you can hope to move onto one of the elite leagues. But at 25 you should be looking to get to an elite league not turn it down, unless you're more interested in a nice easy life. In which case fair play to him.

I mean if the choice is between Nottingham, the same money, a scrap for survival and a goal total that may leave you outside the national team picture or Lisbon, the money, a worse league but Europe and maybe a title and more than likely the productivity that keeps you firmly in that national team it becomes pretty understandable why it might be fine to just take the easier route.

Like ok Everton is a bigger challenge but to what end?
