Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

…I think this is decent criteria but maybe not to be be too dismissive as Barry did ok for us, Gueye from PSG and Garner is ok if we count United in that category. Doing your homework on players character is important.

We sold Gueye to PSG so that doesn't come into that category Eggs and Garner was a young player when we bought him agree on Barry though class act.

Yeah, it would be nice if you could just spreadsheet your way to which players to sign and avoid, but the reality is you are buying an individual and real DOFs/Managers take into account their personalities.

Rich club youth may be worth a look if they aren't on silly money yet - so Gardner was a decent enough signing.

Spot on with Barry - it can work.

Gueye is a funny one as we brought him back.

Virginia repeating his previous comments and it looks like he will be moving to Spain.

Begovic has also mentioned that he speaks a few languages and fancies being a DOF somewhere.

A possible opportunity for our youth keepers to step up...or a new signing or two needed.

Should retire those two seats in the dugout out of respect.

We’ll have to take risks somewhere. Funnily enough the young players of proven quality with really good characters and outstanding fitness records and greta goal and assist numbers in a top quality league are all flashing up on the dashboards of the CL clubs.

Until we join that group we need to be recruiting smartly and that might mean taking risks. Newcastle went out and got Pope Trippoer Burn Wood Targett Gordon in their first few windows. Most people on here would complain at all of those if Everton did that, but it brought them up a level. They then obviously took some risks with big expenditure for Isaak Botman Tonali and Guimaraes, all players that some clubs had question marks about and Newcastle paid through the nose regardless for them.

There’s no risk free way of us recruiting. Proven quality will be very expensive and unproven quality is unproven. Either way it’s a risk.

Think they got Guimaraes in their first window, With wood( tactical transfer ) burn,
Trippier and Targett. Also they were in the relegation places, so that January was probably more about experience and adding a world class player or two on top, which they did with Guimaraes.

But I get your point, think we have enough older players With prem experience,
Think we need 3 or 4 top class players to move us forward next season

We’ve got an unbalanced squad especially if most of the ooc players go. Coleman, Young, Keane, Doucoure Calvert Lewin, Gueye, Harrison

I’d like to keep Gueye but the rest can go but that’s a lot of experience going out the door. It essentially leaves Pickford and Tarkowski as the only senior players.

Then there’s a core of experienced but young players Branthwaite OBrien Ndiaye McNeil Garner Patterson hopefully Alcaraz

Then there’s some young players like Chermiti Armstrong Dixon who are somewhat unproven at this level.

Just wouldn’t surprise me to see Moyes balancing the squad a bit age wise with a few players even on loan which is why I’m not surprised the likes of Norgaard is linked.

What happened to Angel Gomez from Lille? He looked a decent midfielder for England and as I recall coming to end of contract?

Heard that West Ham (from their bloggers plus the ex-employee bloke) that they have put a massive wage offer and signing on fee for him, which in turn has pissed off a number of their first teamers (not sure how they would know though)
