Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We’ll have to take risks somewhere. Funnily enough the young players of proven quality with really good characters and outstanding fitness records and greta goal and assist numbers in a top quality league are all flashing up on the dashboards of the CL clubs.

Until we join that group we need to be recruiting smartly and that might mean taking risks. Newcastle went out and got Pope Trippoer Burn Wood Targett Gordon in their first few windows. Most people on here would complain at all of those if Everton did that, but it brought them up a level. They then obviously took some risks with big expenditure for Isaak Botman Tonali and Guimaraes, all players that some clubs had question marks about and Newcastle paid through the nose regardless for them.

There’s no risk free way of us recruiting. Proven quality will be very expensive and unproven quality is unproven. Either way it’s a risk.
We need a good mix of experience and youth scouted from other leagues that can come in and make an impact at lower cost.

…but if our window closes, I assume foreign clubs can’t acquire players from PL clubs.
That's not how it currently works. For example, Saudi clubs continued to sign PL players after our window closed in the summer. In fact, didn't we sell James after our window closed?

Its not a transfer window, its a registration window, clubs can sign players 365 days a year, but can only register them in what we call Transfer Windows.

Different countries have different times and dates when their windows open and close.

Ok, sure, sorry I got the didn't clearly outline the semantics. To be 100% accurate then, we could sell Branthwaite to Real Madrid on the 31st August, and they could register him as their "registration window" would be open, so he can play in their team. We could then sign Ronald Araujo or William Saliba to replace him, but we couldn't register them or play them as our "registration window", so it would be a complete waste of time and money. If the PL "registration window" were to close significantly before the "registration window" of other European leagues that would be bad for the league and bad for Everton, in my opinion. Happy now? Great.

I added your post cos you were correct, I wasnt pulling you up on semantics bruh.

Cant see it happening this Summer with the Club World cup rubbish.
Off topic, sorry, but there are some games for this thing involving some pretty big clubs in my city. Was thinking about going until I saw the ticket prices. $100 (which after taxes and fees is really about $135) for an individual third tier seat to one game. Can't imagine how much they'll run for the real world cup next year, but at least that'd be worth it. Probably going to spend like $500 to see Ghana play North Korea or something.

Assuming its frowned upon to call another poster a "fool", I'll refrain from doing do.

…that would make it difficult.

Multiply all of the laughing emojis (you have been putting on each of my posts) by infinity...thats how much i have been amused reading these posts.

Thank you.

Alcaraz is an obvious buy at less than 15 million pounds. High ceiling, already looks better than a faded Doucoure and probably offloadable for a similar amount if it doesn't work out. He'll have had eight months to settle in by the time the new season starts, so will be nicely bedded in.

We obviously need two new wingers and I can't imagine anybody at the club wants to turn the loan moves for Harrison or Lindstrom into permanent deals. It's really not hard to find wingers with pace, and perhaps a mixture of a more proven winger and a breaking-through winger with high potential would be good in terms of freeing up money to use elsewhere.

Full backs, imo left back is the ultimate priority here as O'Brien has proven he's decent at right back, although he moves to CB if and when Branthwaite is sold. One of the new full backs we sign must be a huge step up from the quality of Mykolenko.

Then obviously there's the huge issue up front. IMO we should still be looking to offload Beto, plus Calvert-Lewin is likely leaving. That probably brings in about 10 million, and we're left with Chermiti only as it stands. Go for Broja on a no-fee loan, then spend big on a striker to come in and start games.

A truly massive summer awaits: RW, LW, ST, ST, LB, RB. Probably also GK backup and a fourth CB option. Probably needs to be a net spend of around 150 million - whether that's at all realistic is another topic completely. We're gonna be struggling next season though if we don't spend anything like that as it'll mean we haven't brought in players with sufficient quality to improve the squad / we've massively gambled on cheaper players hoping they'll instantly settle in and have an impact.
