Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I suspect that you are right.

I'd expect that we sign about 3-4 players for fees. I really hope that a couple of them are exciting attacking players. I anticipate that at least one will be an experienced player that Moyes has worked with before.

I've no doubt we will try to pick a couple of free transfers and augment the squad with loan signings .

Supposedly money is tight again and I've got a horrible feeling that any spending spree will be funded by the sale of Branthwaite.
It will be interesting to see what happens if Moyes pushes for a soucek. Going off the rumour that TFG wont spend on over age players. Some fans seem to think Moyes will have total control, I’m not so sure about that. This guy from Leeds following kinnear to Everton when a guy Moyes knew well-from West Ham was getting mentioned also , Newman I think his name was.
May be different roles and Newman may still come, but is it 1-0 to kinnear ??

Thought at first that Soucek was out of contract at West Ham this summer. Would've welcomed him on a free. Shouldn't be spending large sums on a 30 year old though and don't think West Ham will be letting him go on the cheap.

Not sure she scores that goal v Bournemouth, you know the one that kept us up. I'd say that's a pretty significant contribution however bad we perceive him to be. Maybe the MOST significant contribution in our recent history
One swallow doesn't make a summer mate, and one key goal or temporary run of form doesn't mean we should appreciate a player forever (Dan Gosling scored against the RS, Bily scored some belters, etc. etc.) He could have scored against Palace a month earlier if he'd not been sent off against Spurs for slapping Kane in the face

20mil would be my guess and he’s on 90k a week and he’s not dropping his money,
So you’re taking 35/40mil for a
Player who will walk away at 33/34

He was our joint top scorer last season also.

Hes made a significant contribution here, when we've been on out backsides. he and we will move on and that just natural progression.

Its more then ok to acknowledge hes been very very impactful for us.

As I said, was under the impression he'd be out of contract in the summer. Totally agree, shouldn't be spending that much money on a 30 year old.

Think there is sometimes value in the free market in that bracket - JT has been great and we signed him at 29 if my memory is right - equally Barry was a great signing, i wouldn't be too dogmatic on it - depending on the cost of the deal. Soucek, looks too expensive.

I understand the premise though, we are going t need some oven ready quality players in addition to younger players.

Not for me he’s had a lot more bad games than good, he’s just had some big moments. 2 goals in 25 games this season, playing off the striker

Like all in this era, he has his limits, but he's probably the most impactful signing of the the last half decade consistently, hes been worth the £20 mill spent and more then returned the value of it in influencing results. Hes made a great contribution, while we have been on our backsides. Its ok to say and acknowledge that without saying you think he should be the running for the Ballon Do'r
