Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Bellingham went for €133.9mil in 2023.

Someone like Rigg who is 17 could be eyed by the big players in 3 years so e.g 2028 which is 5 years on from Bellingham -- if of course he reaches a decent level and fees continue to increase.

I would be looking to grow the team through buying in young players today -- seeing their values grow -- then seeing them raise the clubs profile and also become integral to the squad.

I'm certain players who may be just as good can be signed for cheaper fees overseas. I prefer to overpay and bring in English quality which in turn raises the clubs profile.

Overpaying is what got us into trouble and 100m transfers hardly ever happen … basing our recruitment and transfer fees on players potentially turning into 100m players is a recipe for disaster imo

Look at felix … they paid 100m for him and he’s being loaned out and passed around

Signing 17 year olds for nearly 40m is a massive gamble and unfortunately our previous bad recruitment means we cannot afford to do that and get it wrong

Dortmund are the 2nd biggest club in Germany and have fleeting success, I don’t follow German football,
But they don’t seem to be in the news for winning things lately. So arguably it doesn’t work. Yes they’re probably well off financially.
And I’m sure there fans are over the moon with that.

Yes we’re in different position and the premier league is a different ball game.
And for the next few years it may be a model we need to do.
But I will say it again, if you continue to
Sell your best players every summer, you will be seen as an easy touch and you will never have sustained success. What’s the end game here, to say in the prem with a shinny new stadium and make money,
Or try and win trophies???

Agreed

Dortmund can afford to get young players and offer cl footy and the promise that they will sell once a big club comes in.

That’s a massive pull for players , Dortmund know that the rest of their league is weak and for players to shine there is not as difficult as the prem.

They sell for massive profits and then recycle

It’s a great model to run a club but it is, as you say, a totally different league to the prem and something which is increasingly difficult to do for clubs like us.

Brighton do it well and Bournemouth looks to be a club that can do it potentially.

The test for them would be if they can recruit well again , consistently good recruitment is what will be their challenge and time will tell if they have just got lucky, or if they have a sustainable model

I like Esteve, wouldn’t mind adding him to the CB ranks at all
I was asking a work colleague this afternoon about Maxime Esteve. He’s had a season ticket at Burnley for over 30 years. He really rates Esteve. When I asked about Michael Keane, he said that it was actually Ben Mee who made him look better than he was. Then Ben Mee played alongside Tarkowski and helped to develop him. I said that I really like Tarkowski as a defender, but wish we had signed him a few years earlier.
He was a bit gutted when I told him that we were being linked with Maxime Esteve because he reckons he is absolute quality and the best centre back out of all of them.

Yeah if Burnley missed out on promotion I wouldn’t mind a CB grouping of Branthwaite Tarkowksi Esteve O Brien with Keane going out the door.

@Neiler
But also 20 mill, every year for 4 years after that.

Yes and that would easily be affordable imo. But obviously other things come into play, like success, finishing higher up the league, getting into Europe, better sponsorship deals, improving the academy and making money on youngsters and there’s a very good chance we sell a big player in that 5 year period and give a couple of our big buys, new deals, which drops their amortisation cost moving forward

CJ Egan Riley on a free from burnley can play rb/cb prob on low wages aswell. Give us more money spend in other areas.

This is exactly the type of signing we should be making...young highly rated and relatively cheap bearing in mind his contract situation. Problem is that he wants to stay at Burnley, and with them likely going up this year, I can see him wanting to stay there.

It’s doable but not easy.

We can’t afford our wages and ammortisation bill at the moment.

Our wages have dropped to 80% for 23/24
That will drop again and with all the new finances and the ground, there’s a good chance it will drop under 70 in the next year or two. Which would comply with the new rules

Okay. I'll post some players I'd like us to sign:
Andy Diouf
Chris Rigg
Niklas Kühn
Luca Netz
Habib Diarra
Emanuel Emegha
Nick Woltemade
Dennis Cirkin
Richard Rios
Rocco Reitz
Julien Duranville

There were go!!
Defo Zat after seeing your list

West Ham will likely have to sell some players this summer. It wouldn’t surprise me if Moyes goes for Soucek despite him just turning 30. Moyes signed Distin when he was 31, and we already have Tim and Armstrong coming through in the central midfield position.

Doucoure and Mangala both need replacing as well. At the right price, I can see us going for Soucek.
Listening to the West Ham guys and the fella who calls himself ex west ham employee (they think he is well in the know) the conversations between player and manager have already taken place. Also, from the same, Potter is said to be quite happy for him to move on, fee is said to be around 10 million

I still think Moyes likes his Fellaini type player myself?

Plus, we still need depth in the squad, could be ideal for 2/3 years, plus it stops him scoring against us

I'd like to imagine decisions will be announced very soon on Young, Doucoure, Keane and especially Coleman (around £16m a year saved, takes our salary to turnover down to about 60%).

There are precious few home games left and all should be given a good send off by the fans, regardless of how bad they've been for us or how finished they now are as Premier League players.

Also get Gueye signed for an extra year asap.
