BUT Bony might simply this year's Michu. Bit of a gamble. He's also an Ivory Coast international, so he'll waltz off to the ACON at very inconvenient times every couple years. No thanks.

Remy's a no, because he's a bit rapey. Don't want that sort of character at the club, regardless of his on-field performances.

Welbeck's a no because there are ducks in my local park who are better footballers than that great flapping tit.

Lukaku for me please. If he won't come then we start looking at Villa - Benteke's value may have dropped now and we can give them Kone in part-ex.... hopefully.

He banged goals in at a decent rate in the Eredivisie, often against decent sides like Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord....not such a big gamble. Lukaku for me too, but if he's away then Bony suits our system

What was your point?

Sorry if I missed it.

But the answer to your question of why would he leave Burnley is pretty obvious.

Point was, he's been one of Burnley's best players and he will be the first choice defender back in the premier league. Why would he come to sit on our bench? Maybe we can go for him when they get relegated and he's has a year playing in the premier league.

Really can't see us buying him, and I don't think they'd entertain that amount either, they got that for Joe Allen.
Roberto is a confirmed admirer....and most clubs fleeced Dalgleish and the Shyte in that period....Downing, Carroll, Allen, Borini, Aspas.......would you seriously say that the Crab has justified that price tag, or that anyone would pay them half that amount now ?

If Bainesy is going into the CDM position as rumoured, would Oviedo (baby) be our first choice LB? If so, we need a LB back up. Maybe Martinez wants the option to play three at the back? If so, Luca Marrone would be a super signing I think - considered defensive midfielder or centre-back, who can cover in a 3-5-2/3-4-3, a 4-2-3-1, or as the deepest player in a 4-1-2-3.

Happy to trust RM on the subject of Baines moving into CDM, and Perfectly happy with Oviedo becoming our defacto starting LB provided he fully recovers from injury. Presumably the point of these two decisions would be to facilitate Garbutt taking on a bigger role in the squad? I'd love to see another one of our youngsters emerge.

Don't know anything about Drmic.

Colback isn't as bad as I originally thought and free I beleive.

Watched Trippier recently. He's pretty decent. Very good delivery but do we need a right back really?

Drmic is decent and young and doing really well in the Bundesliga for an average Nurnberg side. Got a fair bit of interest in him and apparently as a release clause of less than £5m?!

Colback isn't bad and can play a number of positions so numbers wise amongst the squad, and for free/nominal fee he might be worth a shot.

Trippier I don't know a great deal about, I know he was from the City academy and had a stint on loan at Barnsley before moving to Burnley and he was quite decent and usefull from free kicks but again, he could be looked upon as someone to boost the numbers, add competition.

I think we really need to make that statement signing upfront in the summer, either a Lukaku, Bony or Remy type signing that will give us that quality upfront that can be the difference in games and keep us challenging for the CL spots.

But I also think we need some creativity in the attacking midfield spots, someone who can unlock the tightest defences at will but also think we need a few more players to add squad depth and give us options but I'm not sure we're gonna have that kind of cash to do such a thing?!

We'll probs end up losing out on Lukaku and end up with the likes of either Finnbogason, Drmic or Bafetimbi Gomis, which I wouldn't mind but as there unproven in prem there a risk IMO.

our right back options are stones (who seems to be a future centre back anyway), hibbert (who's out of contract) and browning.

can see why we'd be looking at a possible RB back up, but apparently browning's getting good reviews.

If we're serious I think we need 2 centre mids and 2 strikers minimum. Maybe make bulk out the squad with a few loans too. Hopefully Martinez knows of the perfect players out there, but if we got say: Lukaku, Remy, Lallana and a fully fit Rodwell (or someone better/less broken) and with some shrewd loans on top. We'd be on for winning a euro trophy/league double, absolute minimum, factoid.

No to to Deulofeu because he's infuriating.

Yes to Ben Arfa.

Bit crazy that.

Ben Arfa has become a much more mature player over the past couple seasons. He's not the immature punk that came into the prem a few seasons ago.

Besides I'd rather have a perm than take a another loan.

Is Remy reeeally tosh though? 13 prem goals in 24 games for Pardew's amazing Newcastle circus this season. In the context of premiership strikers who might be possible, he's far from the worst.
Rodwell admittedly is permanently broken.
