It's not about me not 'wanting him' though mate. I do rate him, think he's got awesome potential at 20 years old. It's just that it's not very realistic to think we going to spend up to £25m on one player. Especially as it is a team game and we've got more needs than only a Lukaku. So, personally prefer to get two or three players in for what he would cost. That's certainly different than ' not wanting Lukaku'.
I'd love Lukaku to sign on a permanent, but without CL I do think that's unlikely.
Personally, if we get into Europa then i'd be happy with a summer spree of
Tadic (£10-12mil.) - we have needed this type of player for years, he's class. Scored twice today again.
Bathsuayi/Drnic (£6-10 mil.) - young upcoming strikers with potential. Only risk is his lack of Prem experience. Ideal as back-up.
Colback (Free - if Sunderland go down) - No brainer for me. Didn't particularly rate him at the start of the season but now i've watched McCarthy week-in week-out he would be ideal as back-up/rotation in CM. Very good 'utility' player who can also play at full-back.
Barry (Free) - needs to happen and I think it will. With the experience he has he'd be perfect for Europe and keeping it steady in the league. Wouldn't have to play every game if Gibbo was fit either.
Then we'd need a proven scorer at the top level - a 'marquee' signing (ideally Prem.) Possibilities include:
Ba (£7mil.) - Had a good end to the season and knows where the net is in the Prem.
Remy (£12-14mil.) - Questions about his character but he's quality. Prime age for a striker but I think he'll be at one of the big London clubs next year.
Bony (£20mil.+) Unlikely as I can't see Swansea selling him for less than £20mil. Risk of 2nd season syndrome but I personally think he'll keep his form. Ideal player for the Martinez system.
Lacazette (£10m.) - A mix between Suarez/Remy. At 22, he's one of the best talents in France atm. Would do really well in the Prem I feel, but (I hate to say it) at a team that plays 3 up top such as Arsenal or Liverpool. Don't think he'd be as effective as a lone-striker.
Gomis (Free) - A better positional sense than Lukaku but not as much pace/power. Unproved in the perm but he knows where the net is in Europe. Could be a steal on a free wages permitting.
Alternatively, we spend £20mil. on Lukaku, but for me, no more. We need a playmaker just as much. If we dip sign Lukaku, I can see the 2nd striker being a loan signing - most likely Traore. Don't think we'll spend more than £30 mil. if we don't get 4th.

Like for Like in for the loans, Lukaku, Deulofeu, Barry & Traore.
Deulofeu - Not 100% certain he will stay so I would like Moses, (loan or permanent) Zaha or McManaman.
Barry - Again not 100% he will sign plus he is 33 with a high wage due because of out of contract so Mutch Colback, Cork or Will Hughes for me.
Traore - I think will stay another season but if not Powell looks a good shout.
Lukaku - 20million is a lot plus without Champions League I think it will be a non runner so we have to look for a player who can play that loan role & Ba, Remy or Bony.
Keepers are sticky subject with Howard looking to play on for another 2 years & Robles subject to move abroad, Alex McCarthy is an outstanding young goalkeeper with premership experience who could play for the next 10 years.
I think we have centre backs covered with Stones, Duffy, Alcaraz, Distin & Jags plus Browning potentially or boost our ranks with Lascelles from Forest.
Midfield is light so we need some steel and height so that's a big question for next season, I like Poyet of Brighton but he is a bit light weight perhaps a cheeky bid for Alex Song.

At two different teams for fours years that level of goalscoring and providing is exceptional even for a league as defensively weak as the Dutch league is, thing i like almost as much is the fact he plays every bloody game as well which shows he is durable
Personally love nothing more than to sign him for 10-12m and then loan Jovetic in from City
Yeh I only got the results through as notifications on my phone from Squawka when at work. Just shows the goalscorer, but he is a brilliant player. Like you I've been singing his praises for a while since Dutch mentioned him a whir bcd and I checked him up.
I'd love it to happen. Suppose it could be possible. Imagine a strike-force of Jovetic and Lukaku.
My only worry this summer....well ONE of my worries.. is that Bobby had said(if I recall correctly) if they got champions league he'd go after 1a targets. If not, quantity abounds. Didn't sound like any impact players then..
