summer transfers

Snodgrass is free in the summer I think :D

Firmino probably isn't an adequate full time striker but if he could be bought on the cheap why not? I'd prefer seeing Batshuayi and Diame to start out, anything from there is a bonus. (Plus loans, etc.)

I just hope we get the transfer business right this summer with really, REALLY good signings (no Bilyaletdinovs) and loans (Deulofeu would be great, Traore I'm not so sure). I hope Barry signs up as it will definitely help our money go further. We need a couple of brilliant strikers (Lukaku being one) and a couple of central midfielders (Barry hopefully being one on a free).

If we want to improve on Bobby's brilliant first season in charge, he needs to get us Lukaku & find us another top midfielder like he did with McCarthy (but who plays differently than the ginger tour de force).

As pointed out to me yesterday. Can't think of many better we could get for £3.5m.
My one criticism of Martinez is that he's yet to bring in a technically boss Iberian or South American who wears a hair band and does the Arteta 'fall-on-the-ball-and-award-yourself-a-free kick' whenever anyone goes near him. I expected him to have found us a Tiago or Pedro Mendes for £500k by now.

I can't see us getting Lukaku unfortunately.

For me:
Diame (if available and with his low buy-out clause, ideal for midfield back up and offers something a bit different to what we've got) - £3.5mil
Barry (no brainier - key to any success we'll have next year. Retaining the ball will be key in Europe. Wages only issue but I reckon if we offer him a 2 year contract on £60k he'd take it to be playing consistently and challenging on all fronts at this stage in his career) - FREE
Dusan Tadić (beast of a player. If we'd have had a true playmaker such as him this season we'd have turned a lot of those draws into wins. Ideal) - £10mil.
Deulofeu (was ace just before Christmas and the injury detailed him a bit. Will get better next season and would tear some dodgy European defences a new one. Again, a no brainier for me if it's an option). - LOAN
Batshuayi (One of the brightest talents in Europe this season. Pace, power and a good finisher. Ideal as the secondary striker in the squad.) - £7-£8mil (if but out clause is true)
Now, here I think we have a choice of a few players. I reckon if we got all of the above, we might have around £10-£13mil. Left to spend without selling anyone major. Here would be my shortlist: (I'd love Bony here but reckon he'd be too expensive):
Remy (proven striker in the prem. Pacey, strong and a great finisher. Probably at his level at a club like ours but i think his wages would be an issue. Wants to play in the Champions League as well, and I reckon if a big London club comes into him he'll be off there). - £12-14mil.
Lacazette (Great talent but not sure he'd be able to play the loan striker role. Would probe better playing as part of a front 3. Apparently turned us down in Jan. but I reckon he'd be a great signing) - £10mil.
Carlos Vela (Quality player, can play anywhere across the forward line. Again not sure if he'd be able to play the loan forward role as well in the Prem.) - £15mil.
Carlos Bacca (Would be my choice if we were gonna go with a striker from abroad. Quick, strong and good hold up play. Perfect for Martinez' system and has been class for Sevilla in La Liga and Europa this year. Could be a risk but could be the ideal replacement for Rom.) - £10mil (given he has a £9mil. buy-out clause according to Spanish media)

I'd take Barry, Diame, Tadic and Wilfried Bony for a total of 30m. Get rid of Alcaraz, Hibbert. Potentially get Deulofeu back in on loan and another surprise loanee.

Diame agent is at it every summer. Leaks story to paper about a release clause in his contract, there is a reason no one ever takes him, he is utter gash. All arms and legs and couldn't pass water, never mind a football. Next.
