I agree but I had posted that at half time whenever we were crying out for a change.

Fair do mate.

Koeman is a revelation right now though, not afraid to change things up and a breadth of fresh air, seeing McCarthy off the other week after 30 and ross off at half time last night, can see why Koeman CAN fall out with some players as he really doesnt give a flying one as long as the result is obtained. and bloody brilliant to see it

I can't imagine there's anything I could say that would take the shine off any 3-0 away win, but I just call it as I see it from our perspective. If we keep blowing up like that in games, for no reason, we will be down at Christmas.

OK, we get it.

Sunderland were the better team and were controlling the game until a ten minute spell in which your players committed Hari Kari and allowed Everton to fluke the points.

If Sunderland keep on controlling games they will soon be racing up that table ;)

I think he will keep Ross in the team as dropping him now after being subbed early in the game might be a big knock to his confidence.

Probably at the expense of Kev, as Bolasie on the left and Del on the right worked a treat last night.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Barry was rested to preserve his aged limbs in a game where two defensive midfielders may not be necessary.

Ross playing alongside Gana in a deeper role with licence to carry the ball forward would be interesting.

Potentially Khal but I can't see Barry being dropped - even though Gueye was the star of the show last night Barry's positioning is just so good, and he keeps us ticking.

Think it's really interesting how Koeman sets up. Bar his odd flutter with 3 at the back, it's always 4-3-3 or a variation of it.

We looked a bit Martinez-y last night because we were in a 4-2-3-1 with Bolasie retaining the width on the right, but Kev cutting inside - which ultimately meant Barkley and him were getting in each other's way.

Once Kev went as a No.10 we saw the best of him, and his link up with all of Rom, Bolasie and Del is superb.

Vs Boro I would like to see Barkley start as I think it's a game where we'll play with three central midfielders - we'll most likely have a lot of the ball but Boro will sit back and we need somebody to dictate the play - Barkley like you said can be that man. Gueye will provide the energy at both ends and Barry the anchor role.

It's just a toss-up for me between which one of Del/Barks/Kev misses out.

I think Del will get a deserved start on the right, and if fit Bolasie will play left - so it's whether we go for 'possession' at first with Barkley tucked into midfield, or go a bit more direct from the off with Kev in there. My only fear is there won't be much space (nowhere near like we had last night) and we'll get bogged down

I'd play on Saturday same XI that started last night but obviously with Deulofeu for Barkley. Then against Norwich, providing we win and play well against Boro, look to rest 3 or 4 players (specifically Bolasie, Gueye, Williams) as we've a testing trip to Bournement 4 days later. Four wins on the spin and games against Boro, Norwich, Bournemouth and Palace coming up. What a world it is to live in as a Blue.

And with that posts, we've lost them all... ;)

Indeed.

For all Kev usually plays out wide I don't regard him as a winger in the traditional sense.....the way Bolasie takes that ball right to the line and whips in crosses from seemingly impossible angles.

As you know I had reservations about Bolasue, Toff.......but that performance last night had me thinking of boys we had in the 70s whom spent their time doing that every game.

John Connolly, Ronnie Goodlass and Dave Thomas of blessed memory :):)

Keeping up our impeccable form and gaining as many points as possible is more important than Ross having a titty lip on him. Sorry, drop him, not been good enough and is more of a hindrance to us at the minute as last night showed. We went up a few gears when he went off.

I would keep Del on the bench for the time being and give him the star sub position. Think he changed our attack when he came on and bringing ross or kev on doesn't have the same effect in that regard.

just keep him on the bench whilst we play the small teams and when we get the bigger teams then we can start him for his pace.

Ross is suffering from thinking he is the best player in the world, and there's only one person responsible for that:

Was allowed to play poorly for two seasons yet was, almost on a weekly basis, described as one of the best young players in the world, a diamond, England's future captain, bla bla bla.

His standards fell so badly yet all he would hear was how good he was. Great management, not. He's rightly been booted from the England squad and the next natural step, going off his form in recent times, is to be booted from our squad for a while too until he bucks his ideas up.

For whatever he's earning per week - 60, 70, 80k or whatever it is - and as an Evertonian - it's quite frankly sickening watching him drag his fat arse around the pitch sulking. Get him out of the team asap and make him work hard to earn his place back.

Somewhat agree that Barkley's problem is that he was allowed to coast. Same as stones and del, allowed to turn up make mistakes and know they were in the team the following week.

under koeman i would imagine Ross will go under a big change this season, perhaps by the second half of the season i could see him really being a big player in the team.

Unfortunately Khal I don't think I've ever seen any clips of any of them (bar Thomas). However, while I had my reservations like you - mainly about the price-tag - I had no doubts Bolasie would/will fit how Koeman wants us to play. Quick, strong and direct.

As Carragher said on MNF last night - I think when he was assessing the third goal - that's how to play 'direct'. It's not long ball, it's simply good, crisp football exploiting the space. The first goal was a superb counter and, though Del's initial effort was poor, Gueye was of course on hand to follow it up (and what a cross it was from him btw!).

The second was just sheer power from Bolasie and that's what I meant when we signed him about offering something different. As good as Del is at beating a man and getting a cross in, he can't do it with the strength that Bolasie does. Brilliant to see.

It's gonna be a long old season, and there's certain areas we're definitely weak in, but so far it's looking positive.

Having watched Lukaku notch 2 headers and very nearly open the scoring in the first half with another, maybe the centre-back Kone isn't the beast that I for one thought he was?

Having said that, Koeman wanted him big time and his judgement on Stek, Bolasie, Williams and Gana especially may well indicate that I haven't got a clue what Im talking about.

Possibly the Stones syndrome......not playing badly deliberately or owt, but the fact he is not wanting to be there is manifesting itself in his play and the defence looks shakier as a result.

BTW, Ross will be fine.

Tried too hard to have an impact last night and ended up just stuttering. He didn't play any worse than Rom or Kev in that first half, but it was the right change by Koeman. The lad will bounce back.

He was still their best defender last night. Rom was anonymous most of the first-half apart from when he peeled onto Dijlobodji. Similarly, in the second half, Rom pretty much went onto Djilobodji.

In fairness I think Sunderland played pretty well first half. You could see decent interplay upfront, looking strong at the back and scrapping for everything in midfield. As I've said before though Everton fans in general underestimate the quality of our players when they are given the right tactical advice. Koeman cracked the puzzle second half and Deulofeu Mirallas Bolasie and Lukaku were simply too good for Sunderland as we all know they can and should be. If Sunderland replicate that first half though they're not going down, far far weaker teams around in the league.
