BTW, Ross will be fine.

Tried too hard to have an impact last night and ended up just stuttering. He didn't play any worse than Rom or Kev in that first half, but it was the right change by Koeman. The lad will bounce back.

he didn't try hard enough and that was the issue BT. Slow, ponderous and not at the races. You are right though, any one of him, Kev and Rom could have been given the hook.

As Koeman has mentioned a couple of times, he needs to take the game by the scruff of the neck and dictate play. No denying he was awful last night but I'm sure Koeman will know how to deal with him and will keep demanding more until he delivers consistently

Keeping up our impeccable form and gaining as many points as possible is more important than Ross having a titty lip on him.

Yes, it's not as if Ross hasn't been an integral part of our early season Renaissance or owt like that.

Let's not worry about the mindset of the players, just chuck them on the garbage heap after playing badly for one half of the game

This is exactly what is wrong though mate.

There's no evidence at all to suggest Ross has got a 'titty lip'.

He's been very good this season apart from last night. He's shown more of a willingness and more of a responsibility. Last night wasn't his night - it's as simple as that.

Back him to make an impact next time he plays, whether starting or from the bench.

In the morning afterglow, was that us in the second half, playing the best half of football since we took Chelski out.....yep it was us and I remained as chuffed to hell. We have a manager who sees it going wrong and does something about it, no one is immune as Barkley found out. Having witnessed his awful contribution to the first half it could be sometime before he picks up his shirt again, he may not even make the bench. Ross has lost it I'm afraid but he will be told how to adapt rather than some idiot telling him how good he is, Koeman is like a hurricane of fresh air thank God. YB was magical, he did some step overs that if Bale had done them Sky would have repeated them half hourly every hour on all channels, boy did the travelling fans love him. Gana, Gueye or whatever, I think I'll call him Double G, was the personification of eternal motion running as hard at the end as he was at the off, distribution, tackling. positional sense what a player. The Beast had a feast, about time to but last year his diet was needed. it got shut of the EP dross, he shed weight and last night given the service, he scored. It can't be that great a coincidence that RB being taken out he suddenly goes on a scoring spree, feed the Beast and he will score.

One final word for the club, who ever authorised the donation of £200,000 to that Sunderland kiddies fund took the man of the match for me, the class shown in that act was unbelievable and I'm sure the Sunderland fans accepted the donation in the manner it was made.

Last night and for the remainder of this week all of us Blues will walk with our heads held high......................

WE'RE BOSS US BLUES

He'll turn Barkley into a proper player.. one who actually pulls his weight and plays to the benefit of the team instead of playing to showboat his skills to a moneybags team.. or he'll ship him out. The team comes first.

Potentially Khal but I can't see Barry being dropped - even though Gueye was the star of the show last night Barry's positioning is just so good, and he keeps us ticking.

Think it's really interesting how Koeman sets up. Bar his odd flutter with 3 at the back, it's always 4-3-3 or a variation of it.

We looked a bit Martinez-y last night because we were in a 4-2-3-1 with Bolasie retaining the width on the right, but Kev cutting inside - which ultimately meant Barkley and him were getting in each other's way.

Once Kev went as a No.10 we saw the best of him, and his link up with all of Rom, Bolasie and Del is superb.

Vs Boro I would like to see Barkley start as I think it's a game where we'll play with three central midfielders - we'll most likely have a lot of the ball but Boro will sit back and we need somebody to dictate the play - Barkley like you said can be that man. Gueye will provide the energy at both ends and Barry the anchor role.

It's just a toss-up for me between which one of Del/Barks/Kev misses out.

I think Del will get a deserved start on the right, and if fit Bolasie will play left - so it's whether we go for 'possession' at first with Barkley tucked into midfield, or go a bit more direct from the off with Kev in there. My only fear is there won't be much space (nowhere near like we had last night) and we'll get bogged down
Deulofeu drifted into the centre a lot also. See Rom'a third as an example.

Barkley was just poor and looked a bit lifeless. I wonder if the break had anything to do with it.

But there's no evidence at all that this is what Barkley does mate...

He has more than 'pulled his weight' in every game this season. Unfortunately last night he was poor in the first half. He wasn't any worse than Rom or Kev, but since all of our play was going through the middle, Koeman needed to change that, and it worked.

To parpahrase an over egotistical coked-up anthem, Ross's star will shine this season. There's no doubt about that.

I said last night at half-time how in the first half there were so many times where there was a good 20-yard gap between our midfield and Rom, and neither Kev nor Barkley were making moves into it to link the play. That led to Rom having to come back and of course, losing possession, which led to the Sunderland counters.

Second half we had Del moving in and out like you say, with Bolasie similarly on the other side causing havoc, while Kev was able to drift from being next to Rom to going next to Gueye and Barry pretty much. It worked as there was loads of space after we bagged our opener.

Couldn't agree more. Isn't it marvellous to have total confidence in your manager.

Except he hasn't though has he. Have you watched any of our games this season? He's been terrible, I don't care if he scored with a cross in the opening game. "One half of a game", yeah and the rest.

He's shown how weak he is mentally time and time again. Him having confidence issues shouldn't mean we have to start him in every game no matter how crap he's playing just so we don't make him cry. It's a results business, the second half team yesterday showed its the most capable at this moment in time of getting results. That's it really.
