Expectations went up when we shelled out 28mil on Lukaku.
We spent 15ml on Fellaini but my expectations didn't go through the roof, if anything I thought good signing he will hopefully improve us

This is why I use the word balanced, it appears for some people it has gone out of the window

if you don't like RM just say

There were 3 stoppages period (GK and 2 throws). I rewound the game and watched. None after 64 minutes, your wrong don't let facts get in the way of your argument tho. A manger never subs directly without a player warming up (ie barring injury)because itis an injury risk. Martinez has gotten plenty wrong this year but it's ridiculous when someone obviously has an agenda.

agenda look back over my previous post I have stuck behind him and in my original post I said we where playing well. But don't let facts get in the way eh.

Agree with everything there except that bit in bold.
I think what I am trying to say is that I think he will go for wins, especially if we get to a semi or final.
I don't think he will play for a defensive game hoping to snatch a goal and then hold on to it with dear life
I do believe we will need luck along the way....

I do think a top 4 is possible with RM but almost everything has to go right. Last year is a perfect example. Record points total and would have been top 4 all but one other year in the premier league era. Yet still didn't make a top 4. So I take the optimists view last year kind of proves RM can get us there. I don't think Moyes sniffed a top 4 after City got oil money. That is not a dig at Moyes he was a good manager that left at the right time or a couple years late depending on your POV. But there does need to be some realism given our funding about what Everton can do consistently. This season has been disappointing though and would not dispute that.

The one thing I think is now clear and I didn't see it during the dreadful December/January but having someone like a Pinnear/Osman is essential. I thinks RM uses them similarly and our bad patch coincided with having neither which he didn't anticipate. Both are good in tight spaces and retain possession. I like Pinnear more in that he gives Everton more width. Osman works better behind a striker or top 2. I think we need an improved version next year to be really successful.
I wouldn't argue with anything you have written - well balanced

Maybe. But going all gung ho for wins isn't always the right thing to do to win a trophy.

You need to be clever.

Just got back from the match. Makes a nice change getting to a game fairly local (live in Newport!)

Anyway, a few thoughts. I've been as frustrated as the next Everton fan this season with the football we've played. BUT, this was a performance ten times better than that of our last game at the Liberty. Was clearly a midtable game though and I'm sure we're starting to see the players beginning to wind down for the season.

Fair result I thought. Being in the front row I didn't see Coleman's blatant handball, and to be honest I thought he was just going down in an effort to get one of those 'defender's freekicks'. Well worked goal but we really could have had more. The amount of times we try to turn on the ball when it needs someone to just leather it is incredible. Main culprit- Kone. I've really wanted it to work but he just hasn't got it has he? £5m for him was a little crazy in retrospect.

Thought we were well in control at 1-0 up, but suddenly we just decided to sit deep and invite pressure. That's when we needed Naismith and (as much as he's disappointed me this season) Mirallas on as outlets instead of Kone and Barkley who looked shattered. Pienaar/ Lennon MOTM for me. Pienaar on the grounds of him putting in a shift we haven't seen for at least a year. I actually thought Barry did quite well though which I'm sure I'll be blasted for!

I said I'd take a score draw before, and although we could have had more I'm content. It didn't mean anything anyway I guess. Still Roberto's subs and their timing are as baffling as Moyes'. Also questionable the fact that we've started to play okay when there's been no expectation. Something not right.

On a side point, felt like a celebrity stalker noticing @Mikey_Fitzgerald after the match. Sorry to freak you out when I called you mate! :p

It was a joy to meet you sir, however brief

Match wise, we were a steaming pile of crap, yet somehow managed to knick a point. I'll take that considering the season we've had

Kone had a very poor game though

Make a play for Danny Ings in the summer say I

I like Ings (even though he hasn't scored for a bit) but believe our red bellend neighbours are in for him mate.

Dunno about anyone else but I was a little shocked at how different our manager looked today to the person who arrived back in 2013,he looked drawn(no pun;)),quite stressed, pale, even looked as though he's joining the baldies clublolMaybe the pressure of the job is actually getting through to him and he's not quite the laid back bloke that is portrayed in the media:confused:
