I'm very happy with the signing of Distin.

Hopefully he'll make Lescott nothing but a "distin-t" memory...

As you Brits love to say, I'll grab my coat.

Ive been working 12hrs a day so just heard of it for 5M+ hes defo not 1/5 the player that Lescott is. Remember just a year or two ago there were rumors a top 4 club wanted him.

Beletivinknrokov + Distin and 8M for Lescott is a deal I'd take anyday.

Had to re-read that - the "not 1/5 the player" bit threw me off...

Thought you were saying he was complete [Poor language removed]!...

I'd bet on him and Saha both going to the World Cup (not too much though).

Now on the OS (y)

Everton Seal Distin Deal

Everton have completed the signing of Sylvain Distin from Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee.
The 31-year-old Frenchman penned a three-year-deal on Friday after passing a medical at Finch Farm.
The player did not train with his new team-mates but was shown around the training ground and introduced to players and staff.
David Moyes moved for the former Paris St Germain, Newcastle United and Manchester City player after Joleon Lescott was sold to Manchester City earlier this week.
Distin could now make his Everton debut against Wigan Athletic at Goodison Park on Sunday.
"He'll give me a centre half," said Moyes. "I needed one before Joleon [Lescott] left and he'll give me a direct replacement for him. He's a left-footed centre back, which I wanted.
"He's a bit older but more experienced and I look back at how well Davey Weir and Alan Stubbs did for us in their 30s, and I hope Sylvain can do the same.
"We need someone to come in and keep us steady because we want to be competing be at the top end of the Premier League."
Distin follows striker Jo and midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov into Goodison Park this summer.
An FA Cup winner with Pompey in 2008, Distin was the subject of a reported move to Aston Villa before agreeing terms with the Blues. He can play left back as well as his preferred central-defensive position.

Good to have him on board. First time I saw Sylvain Distin was against Liverpool for Newcastle. The main reason I remember him is because he was one of the few players I've seen outpace Anelka.

The season before last him and Sol Campbell kept 16 clean sheets in the League, which bettered our 14 clean sheets that season. Last season he had a tough time but I think he'll do well here.

I noticed that he was at Paris St Germain around the same time as Mikel Arteta, 2000-2002. And I think he'll know Louis Saha aswell, I'm sure he does.

Mate can you take that pic of Tranny out your avatar please, at least have a picture showing him in a shirt he wears. Hes not a regular pick for Portugal.

well done moyes...

good buy i reckon strong fast an experienced premiere league defender wot more do ya want... thro him straight in sunday an get neville from centre half sharpish..lol brilliant lad but not your position.... :P

a great signing for you lads.....i watched him for 4 years at city and was great for us but dont be put off with him being 31 because he still has pace to burn.

he might make the odd mistakes but will recover to make up for it with his pace because he is rapid still and will work very well with jags for you because distin likes to play mainly on the floor when hes at the side of someone like jags who is very good in the air(y)

i think £5m is a good price considering players like turner has gone to sunderland for £12m

Like you say I don't think his age is a problem. Good addition IMHO.

Sunderland seem to be buying players like it's going out of fashion, and this has been going on since Keene went there. Where are they getting the money?

Distin on why we are ace, these new lads are quickly making their way to the top of the Prem P.R. league:

New signing Sylvain Distin believes he has joined a more stable club, and a club who are doing things right with regards to building a squad capable of qualifying for European football each year.

“When you have players who have played together for a long time, that is a plus and it is not just getting players – it is about getting the right players,” said the French defender.

“Everton have proved that they can do it but they know it will be tough. That is not due to Everton, that is due to Manchester City who have invested a lot of money.

“That has got nothing to do with Everton; they haven’t sold their best players or have a financial problem. The competition will be tougher but that suits us great.

“If you want to be in the top seven or eight you will have to fight hard because apart from the top four there are four or five other teams who are really going to be after good times.

“I wanted to move to a club that was a lot more stable, they are always in the top six or top seven for a few years now and the team hasn’t changed too much.

“They are trying to improve the squad rather so stability is really important. I’m not the kind of player who wants to change club every year – I feel comfortable and happy where I am.”.
