Tactical Side of Rafael Regime

So we were great vs Southampton, Huddersfield and Leeds?
We were pretty good against Saints, I couldn't give one about a Carabou Cup game with a whole different XI, and we were mostly fine against Leeds too. I mean we conceded to two individual errors and a belter. I don't really see that as a tactical issue.

Maybe your standards are lower than mine but thought we were awful in big chunks against all 3 of those.

…just because we won doesn’t hide that we were tactically poor yesterday.

3 CBs meant we played with a back 5 and we were overrun, it was no surprise when we went a goal down and the change should have happened earlier.
It’s funny because every single Evertonian who saw that line up knew exactly how the game would go but because Benitez reverted to the tried and tested same bloody formation he had been playing every other game once we conceded, suddenly he’s put on a tactical masterclass!?

Good for him for admitting his first set up was bad and changing things but it was a bad set up from the off.

What he has done however, is add pace and passion and team spirit to a first team that we’re already good footballers but lacked those things, so far so good!

Your point being?

Man Utd were pretty bad against wolves too, I don't hear them moaning.
City lost to Tottenham, nothing special in that performance

France became world champions playing quite unimpressively...

Because the whole point of the discussion you've blindly butted into is the OP saying: "A lot of people massively impressed with how were playing" to which I questioned as I haven't found us massively impressive outside little bursts.

Ricky, under the name SuperStatto, managed to cause the Everton reddit page to break

he would log on and just spam weird stats about Number 10 until the page just stopped working

it was pretty impressive really
I noticed the superstatto Twitter page suddenly went private a couple of months ago. Can't for the life of me figure out why.

….he’ll set us up not to get beat but he’ll want us to carry threat in the top third. I’m sure that was his intention last night, it’s how it’ll be with Benitez.

The better quality of player you have increases your ability to defend and attack. Our season depends on how the quality we have compares to our competitors. The wingers have been a much needed addition but it’s too early to know if they’ll be consistently effective. The January window might improve us.

Thought the two wide players first half were very ineffective especially Townsend him and Seamus struggled with Charlie Taylor ,but obviously 2nd half both were very effective in the win

It depends on what you're looking for I think. I'm not particularly bothered by playing direct and letting the other team have the ball. I want us to carry a threat and not concede big chances or get played through easily. We largely have done that except for the first 60 minutes against Burnley in that ridiculous back five which we need to place firmly in the bin.

….agree and yet both wingers positively impacted the game, especially when we changed formation.

Interesting you mention Coleman. I’m not seeing either full back regularly in the top third.

Agreed and I think that's why we struggle with five at the back the fullbacks are just not suited to the system Chelsea have James and Alonso certainly Alonso a don't rate as a defender but both play most in the final third

What happens after 5/6 games when teams suss us out is when it will be interesting. If he can switch things up, with a plan B and C (which early signs show he probably can) then I'll be more impressed

I write a lot about Everton's tactical side of the game over on my twitter (same as my username here) and it's gained ridiculous traction recently. A lot of people massively impressed with how were playing.

What are the main differences between Carlo and Rafael do you think?
Gray and Towsend...proper wide players that can carry the ball, deliver the ball and score goals...
