In reality they are simple to make,if not a bit faffy. Minced pork, prawns in a bowl add ginger a touch of sesame oil and Soy sauce, spring onion and bang in the fridge. Pastry is just boiled water and flour in a mixer.Bang that in the fridge for an hour or so and you are good to go.The faffy part is rolling out the pastry and filling them.I do it twice a month, making batches of 30 to 40 at a time.I make extra pastry to freeze for next time.I then freeze the sui mai and just take them out and bang them in the bamboo steamer from frozen.Costs me about 20 euro a month.
If you can buy won ton wrappers locally, then it's a piece of you know what.I can't in this God forsaken place lol. Vid below may help.I'm the one on the right BTW lolI’m going to try these - will show you my attempt!
Favourite chippy 'meal' is probably the classic pie dinner. Salt and pepper chips if I want something quick and nutritious. There aren't many chippys I've ever been to where I'd necissarily rave about the chinese meals.. actual chinese restaurants are far better with that gear.
There's a chinese gaff in Ormskirk called The Peacock which does takeout at a 20% discount on their actual restaurant prices, they'll just take your order over the phone and usually have it done in about 20 minutes. Dunno if most other restaurants do something similar but it's ideal if you're after a top chinese scran.with you there mate
true on the chippy's Chinese too, chicken fried rice and half decent curry is about the best your getting, best to find a nice restaurant that does takeaways, i do a 40min round trip for proper Chinese, old swan to aigburth and back
