He’s had pretty bad injury problems for years now. Was a very good player but I think he was a level below Murray
3 slams each, Murray two Wimbledons and a US. Thought Waw (Vav) had a bit more power and better serve, but thats years ago, Murray a lot more running down of opponents and battles of attrition. It's Federer for me thats the draw, a maestro with the racket first compared to athletes first and rackets second.

An earlier comparison was made regards the eras and Serena as lucky to have been so dominant, bear in mind Venus won 5 Wimbledons and 2 US making two Aus finals and a French final. There is no one else in the Williams era as successful, (Henin 7 slams, Sharapova 5, Clijsters 4) though Henin ties consider the doubles record on top. A supreme competitor that battled through Crohn's disease to.

I used to find tennis enjoyable but it's tedius in the extreme now. I watched Djokovic play someone the other day and the first set alone took something like 90 minutes. It's mentioned above that Murray was an attritional kind of player, and that's what men's tennis is now, just an attritional slug fest. The authorities seem to have done their damndest to get away from Sampras style players where the serve can provide a winning advantage and now every surface is like a clay court, with the French even duller than it already was. And to cap it off, after hour upon hour of dullness, the same buggers win every, single, tournament.

The authorities actively strived to stop the serve volley'ers. Maybe they need to do something about Djokovic and Nadal? Proper drugs testing or something.

Nadal is retiring, and Djokovic isn't able to grind opponents down like he once could, it's costing him more now. Lets see how the new generation fare.

Novak absolutely looking like a man among boys right now on court. Alcaraz had to work so hard physically to stay with him through two sets he cramped in the 3rd. That's unheard of in these conditions through 2 sets

I think it was more than cramp. Alcaraz really came into it in the second set. Think he had 6 set points. There was a moment in the second game of the third set when he went to his left and his right calf seemed to go.

The tennis up to then was brilliant and Alcaraz hit one of the best shots I’ve ever seen.

The Serbian will be GOAT on Sunday. No question about it. He'll see either Ruud or Zverev off.

Most slams do not mean the GOAT. Is Court the greatest female player ever? Said this till I'm blue in the face, Djokovic is the one of the very best competitors and he has a body made of granite to go this long without having to have years away from the court like Federer and Nadal have had.

Imho peak Federer and Nadal both beat Djokovic, away from Australia at least.

The GS titles are the only way we can determine who;s better than who.

If Djokovic wins on Sunday then that's unlikely to be beaten by Nadal and Federer is retired and well out of this conversation now.

It's funny that GOAT was always measured by GS wins before a Serbian is on the verge of becoming GOAT rather than it being a Swiss or Spaniard....that whole debate has gone dead in sports reporting now. More Cold War bollocks.
