Thankfully he broke. 5th set will be intense. He's definitely not 100%, but that'll happen throughout the course of a 2 week tourney
Nadal doesn't retire. It's what makes him great. Same with FedererThankfully he broke. 5th set will be intense.
My gut feeling was that Nadal would have retired had Fritz won the 2nd set. He is now motivated enough to continue, especially since the painkillers kicked in. Abdomen pain is no joke
I never like these situations. Usually weird dynamic on court.
I am a fan but he sometimes does. I remember him retiring at AO, should be 2010 or 2011 v Murray. Certainly not at finals tho.Nadal doesn't retire. It's what makes him great. Same with Federer
If he's not fit physically, he will still grind out the match. He was at like 50% against Stan in the Aussie Final and had no chance, but he still finished the match
Just looked it up. He's retired 9 times in his career. I'm surprised it's that high.I am a fan but he sometimes does. I remember him retiring at AO, should be 2010 or 2011 v Murray. Certainly not at finals tho.
Nothing more difficult than trying to get to your first Gland Slam semifinal against one of these three legends.Disappointed in Fritz in that set. Had the chance to stamp his authority at the end and didnt rise to the occasion
Nadal just hanging in there, playing poorly as well
I would agree, except that Nadal is playing trash here - as bad as I've seen him - and Fritz letting him off the hook.Nothing more difficult than trying to get to your first Gland Slam semifinal against one of these three legends.
I'm very interested to see if Fritz can rise to the occasion in the fifth
Agreed Nadal isn't playing great. He's really digging deep though, playing some good defense.I would agree, except that Nadal is playing trash here - as bad as I've seen him - and Fritz letting him off the hook.
