Nadal is the absolute epitome of a sport star. 19-0 this year in majors at the age of 36. He has not got the physicality or technical ability of any of his rivals, or the younger generation behind him, but Id bet on him, even through the adversity of injuries, against any player, on any day. He is filled with self belief, the will to win, and the idea that he gives up, or throws in the towel, is beyond preposterous.

If we had one player in our squad, with as much fight and belief in their own ability as Nadal has in his little toe, we would be set.

I love watching him play as he gives his all. Every time. And that's what you want while watching sport.
Great synopsis.

He really is the anti-Evertonian player. Or at least this current crop

Totally agree, but he's still a hateful little s**t.

Great player throughout his career, but have always found myself rooting for 99.9% of his opponents. I can't put my finger on it, his intense sour bake face, the grunts, the pre-serve tedium. Just never liked the guy.
Haha, I like that mean/sour look he has on court, shows his intensity. My favorite ever female tennis player (Steffi Graf) never smiled either.

Wimbledon is amazing. Few sports touch the nerves of the viewer more. People who wouldn't know one end of a tennis racket from another feel disposed to make venemous remarks about the players and their characters.

BBC have the greatest soap opera of all in their hands till 2027 and it's just as well because they have precious little left now in terms of live sport.

In a game that is becoming increasingly power dominated even in the ladies game, it's interesting to watch Maria who uses so much slice on her shots.

I remember the Agassi/Becker semi final match all those years ago where Becker was being blown away in the first set and a half before he completely changed his tactics and sliced everything back, and Agassi just couldn't cope with it.

Grass took the slice differently back then, between that and the difference in strings the slice was super effective on grass when well executed
