Texting and driving

It’s not big and it’s not clever.

I’ve seen loads of people doing this over the past few weeks, more than usual.

It really really does my head in.

Just as bad as drunk driving if you ask me, which nobody did but I’m venting anyway.

PACK IT IN
Agree.

This is actually one of the interesting aspects of driverless cars, which are increasingly being used on things like motorways. I've read various studies showing that the time it takes to regain focus on the road again is quite a few seconds, by which time obviously any poop that's hitting the fan such that your attention is required will have already made a pretty big mess.
Yeah I’m not a fan of autonomous cars

I'm not going to lie, I'd much rather trust many of the newer systems than the imbeciles currently on the road, and more so those who text or worse have a drink.

In a few years time as the technology is enhanced through machine learning and feedback, I suspect these systems will reduce the number of RTCs.

If I overtake someone or pull up alongside in traffic someone who is very clearly on their phone, I always visibly reach to my dash cam while glancing over at them when I’m in their view.

Same as when I see someone driving like a div.

Hopefully they stress about it being sent to the police for a while so stop doing it.

I absolutely hate people on phones while driving.

I got accused of being on my phone whilst driving by a copper passing in the other direction… I wasn’t on the phone… never even had it out my bag which was in the passenger foot well but he insisted I put the phone back in the bag and zipped it whilst still driving and in full of him as he’d spun his car straight around to come and stop me. He issued me a ticket so I told him I wasn’t paying it and that I’d see him in court… the belligerent bell end said he’d look forward to it… the tosser wasn’t laughing when we got to court and I produced all the records of my phone usage… he stood up and walked out slamming the door, magistrate made him return and apologise to the whole court and then apologise directly to me… I felt smug as anything 😂😂

If you sent the dash camera footage in with the registration clearly visible and the offence taking place, the police would act on it.

There’s a gentleman in London who rides around on his bike doing the very such thing, the point he’s had a large number of people prosecuted.

Aye, it’s National Highways who ‘own’ the lorry/lorries, but WMP and Warwickshire were the forces who piloted the scheme. It’s now much further afield.
I know. I’ve sent dash cam footage in once (for a different offence when I had kids in the car and the other went through a red light at a roundabout and nearly went through us side on).

But I never heard back from the police about it. So no idea if they did anything.

Seen an idiot yesterday with 1 hand on the steering wheel and the other holding his phone on loudspeaker as if that makes it safer. Cringed, actually made it 10 times more dangerous. Plenty of whoppers on the roads these days. Probably wears his shorts in the middle of winter too.

Sounds like he was from Aigburth.
