As an EU international you are entitled to a five year residence permit immediately, even though you will still have to apply for it. In addition you do not need a work permit, but you will still need visible means of support or a job before you can recieve your residence permit, this is to prove that you will not become a burden on the already overstretched German welfare state.

Common sense.

This is also a good read on EU Migration and Welfare.

Here is a great example of how little the voice of the people matters in our "great democracy". David Babbs of 38 Degrees being treated like [Poor language removed] by the BIS committee because nearly a million UK citizens signed a petition voicing an opinion against TTIP (which will enable the privatisation of the NHS amongst other things).

Babbs joins the fray at 10.45 onwards,

The MPs are sickening.

It's funny how strikes are always about money and never events like Mid-Staffs. I fully accept that MPs are hypocrites for accepting a big pay-hike when other civil servants aren't given much, but the unions have zero credibility on anything.

What a load of ultra-right-wing rubbish. In your world view it's an entirely commendable thing (essential, in fact) that companies should follow the dollar by being as efficient as possible (and paying their employees as little as they can get away with, of course) but you criticise ordinary people for organising and asking for a few quid more, five weeks paid holiday, a pension and some thought for their own health and safety.

It is you who has zero credibility on here with loony views like that.

UKIP's the only one speaking up for me now. We should send all the darkies back. And the Poles. Dont get me started on the Bulgarians and Romanians.

I am assuming that is a light hearted/tongue in cheek phrase Dave. Even so, not impressed here.

Clint, that isn't my point of view in the slightest, and it's absurdly simplistic to equate being opposed to going on strike with the desire to exploit employees without reproach. I'm not sure how I can really compete with logic like that.

It really isn't hard to find out what I think about business, I've written enough about it online over the years. I'm not sure I can think of a single one of the 1,800 blogs I've written where I advocate paying employees as little as possible.

I appreciate that doesn't fit the narrative you and your lackey have of me but there isn't really much more I can do to be transparent with my thoughts on how organisations should operate. I don't expect you to read any of them, but that's not really my fault, is it?

There's a piece in the Economist this week about migration, and specifically the migration of British folks to other parts of the EU. I'd keep quiet if I were Cameron/Farage et al. It seems we import roughly the same number of people as we export, but whereas the folks we import tend to be young, here to work and don't require much healthcare, the folks we export tend to be older, retired and in need of quite a bit of healthcare.

Funnily enough, the French and Spanish sound as though they're getting a bit hacked off with all the retired ex-pats going over there, clogging up their hospitals. Funny old world.

People seem to gloss over that. Like folk in Cornwall and Gloucestershire hate the fact that it is nigh on impossible for locals to buy a house cos of second home syndrome. Imagine the fume if it was cos of French and Spanish pushing prices up!

You jest, but the article was suggesting that many of the retirees tend to start drinking more when they get out to the Costa del Sol. I'd only skimmed the article so can't recall where they got the data from, but it might have been Spanish health records (it seems to ring a bell - it's only in the next room, I'm being super lazy here)
