I think I'm erring more and more towards the Spoilt Ballot Paper Party at the moment. Pains me to think I am wasting my vote, but equally I cannot bring myself to vote for any of the major parties, and I refuse to promote UKIP through a protest vote.

It rankles me how the two main parties are treating the NHS at the moment. Labour were open about using it as a weapon in the election, and it's fairly obvious that the £2bn the Tories have found today (and the support for it from NHS England) is largely designed to negate that weapon. It really shouldn't be used as some political plaything to try and win power for one or the other.

It's all about them, I dare say they couldn't give a monkeys about the actual people using it or working in it at all.

Come on ........ they've found a "new" £15bn for roads.

Like we need to lose more land on this small island of ours

At the same time as it being widely reported that the deficit isn't narrowing because the rising economy hasn't contributed to a rise in tax receipts. So chances are even more debt will be taken on to try and buy votes.

I suspect I can safely bet that the tightening of welfare spending they say will go towards paying for this largesse won't come from pensioners, despite them taking the bulk of the welfare pot. They also tend to vote rather more than the rest of the population so musn't be annoyed before the election.

Osbourne was swarmy on the news last night by saying that UK economy was growing. Unfortunately, he omitted to say that our deficit and borrowings are growing faster :).
'king hell, £50bn/year in debt service is some debt! And Labour would only add to that with their "spend, spend, spend" policies & "job creation".

As for the NHS, you could chuck the whole on the GDP at it and it would still need money. Only answer is to kill the pensioners when they need hospital treatment

At least we're not Villa though.

True that. Wonder how King Billy is feeling. Still, he has the delectable Katherine to cuddle up to on these long winter nights. The heat off her bump should mean they can turn the heating down. Just like our pensioners in fact. Hurrah!

His Christmas musical is doing well I believe. Sure he's chipper.

That's certainly not how I remember it, with the figures being bandied about

Well I must admit, the incomes did surprise me.

I assume "Public Money" means unions.

Doesnt explain the difference in election spending, all I can guess is that some of the union money in some way goes back to them or something. No idea I must admit.

@Coach might know more. Or @the esk

I'd imagine a lot more of labour's funding comes from small donations as well, also I think the tories, given how they are funded will be the only party to be debt free when they campiagn, and there donation figures will be bound to go up in election year, so that will probably alter the figures on income and election spending

Neither main party will publish that information so far out from the election.

By way of reference though the Conservatives spent £16.6 m, Labour £8 m, and the Liberals £4.7 m in the 2010 General Election Campaign
