Somehow the pub landlord character has more credibility (and teeth) than Happy Mondays dancer Bez, who is also running in the election, but just don't ask him to spell or say it.

Can someone please explain to me, in words of one syllable, why Cameron is so intent on having Greens present before he'll join any TV debate?

Goodness only knows. These things are generally a waste of time anyway, and I can't see what is added to the process by having so many participants. I think I'm right in saying that there have been a few studies into televised debates, and most concluded that they don't tend to change anyones mind or how they'll vote. Begs the question, what's the point?

As much as I hate to admit it the general consensus, to which I also reluctantly subscribe, is that it is for no other reason than to avoid having a debate with Milliband on t.v. God only knows why, he would wipe the floor with Milliband every day of the week. It may also be that he fears that Farage will make further gains from Right wing Tory voters, who knows ?

It'll be pretty predictable though I'd imagine. Farage will bang on about immigrants, Milliband will try and suggest the NHS is being privatised, Cameron will go on about the economy being in safe hands. Seriously, what do people hope to learn?

It seems popular because it lets us all cheer for our tribe (whoever they are) and jeer at the others for their crazy notions. Entertainment as much as anything.

The strategists think the following:

  • Allowing UKIP to be the sole smaller party to enter the TV debate elevates UKIP's status
  • Having a 5th party reduces TV time for UKIP
  • The "crank" factor of the Greens rubs off on UKIP
  • The Labour Party and Liberal Democrats are more likely to lose voters to the Greens than the Conservatives are.
  • The left wing nature (as it will be portrayed by the Conservatives) of Green policies somewhat shines a more revealing light on Labours policies. Cameron will try and bunch them together.

Well yours certainly didn't fall into that category ! Unless of course you are able to specify what you consider to be "the garbage he spouts"

David Cameron told by MPs that attacking green agenda ...

Tories Attack Green Levies to Defend their Carbon Interests

Tories in full-scale attack on green policies - Michael ...

The Tories that detest the green movement, want them to be involved in a debate so they can air their views. Our Dave really is altruistic. Next he will be having a whipped round amongst his City friends to collect food for the local foodbank. And be donating money to stop fracking and promote wind farms in Tory areas. Or giving free installation for solar panels on all houses.

Your commentary is not entirely coherent but I accept that you are concerned about the environment which of course we all should be but just because Michael Meacher says it doesn't mean it's true.
