Anyway enough of me .. who are you guys voting for!?

I am registered twice because I flit between two locations. If I'm in Southport that day then likely to be voting tactically for the Lib Dem's (two horse race up there, Labour are a nothingness) in order to keep the Tories out - I know that it didn't work that last time but I can't see it happening again.

If I'm in Wavertree, then that is a ridiculously safe Labour seat so I will probably protest vote at the Greens - although my best case scenario is a Labour minority/coalition propped up by the Greens and several others.

Probably a longer answer than you anticipated!

Is that legal?

If an elector is registered to vote in two different electoral areas, they are eligible to vote in local elections for the two different local councils. However, it is an offence to vote twice in any one election. Such an offence could result in a fine of up to £5,000.

I can vote for both councils but only once in a general election and once in a European.

By their own words, you can't deny they have quite a lot of racist members and seem to attract a fair few ex BNP members

Apart from they're the only party to openly have a rule preventing anyone who has been affiliated with the BNP at any point from joining the party. That's more than can be said for Labour who actually do have a few members with ties to the BNP. Does that make Labour racist?

Careful not to cut yourself on all those edges, mate.

Anyone even thinking of voting for that lot need to listen to the LBC interview.

http://www.lbc.co.uk/incredibly-awkward-interview-with-natalie-bennett-105384

This was almost painful to listen to. Especially the party where she starts "coughing" to excuse her absolute ineptness.

Greater Manchester getting it's health budget devolved directly to the local authority.

Interesting to see how this plays out

...being cynical, they are announcing this on the eve of a general election after being constantly accused of being London centric. Power House of the North they call it, electioneering I call it. Be interesting what it truly means when folk analyse the detail.

Hang on, didn't Ukip align themselves with Golden Dawn a while ago in Europe? I think the reason ex BNP members are banned is more to do with the fact that many of them see UKIP and their immigration policies as the natural party for ex BNP members to move. Labour is pro Europe so if there are ex BNP members in their ranks then they're kidding themselves if they think they're furthering some nationalist agenda, they'd be better off with the Tories, who at least have promised a referendum to rid us of "Johnny foreigner". I'm not a huge fan of Labour either truth be told but my vote will always be against the nasty party

Is it really a democracy when neither party on offer will make any real change? Yes, we have a choice who to vote for but what's the point?

Even voting Green(who I really like)/UKIP etc will only add to the sway of the main 2 players.

I really hater politics in this country (and most others I assume).

Tony Blair broke 147 manifesto pledges but remained prime minister - any other job, you'd be sacked.

Wow, just wow... Are you really arguing this point?

What party, other than one with far-right xenophobic nationalist/extremist ideals, would actually feel the need to impose a ban on BNP members in the first place? Only a party who would attract those members has any need for such a ban.

The only reason UKIP are distancing themselves from the BNP is because the BNP failed in this country and UKIP don't want the stigma of being regarded as their natural successors. It certainly has nothing to do with disagreeing with anything the BNP stand for.

The supposed moral objection to racism which you imply certainly hasn't stopped UKIP allying themselves with other racist extremists. Take the EFD, for example. The EFD don't have the same stigma as BNP in Britain (but have plenty of ''keep Europe white'' and ''anders breivik had some good points'' rants!) hence it doesn't do them as much harm politically to align with them. But the EFD are no less bigoted than the BNP and Farage is co-chair for Christ sake.

In short, the UKIPs are a vile party full of proven bigots.
Don't let that stop you though.

It means much better links between community care that is usually council run and hospital care which is run by the local trust. That has to be a good thing. Lets see how things pan out. Giving people who run the service control over their budget however seems infinitely sensible to me.
