Are you lot always so fervently socialist, or just it just pique when it comes to general elections? I've never known such a high level of compassion and love for one's neighbour as on this thread!
I just want us all to live together peacefully in racial harmony.

I shall express this post in the medium of dance, later.

Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

giving them a fortnight in Spain because they have had a tough upbringing and are from a poverty stricken area....Load of old Tosh!!!!
if they was brought up right they would have respect for their elders ...give up the seat for someone who is old

Hi mate. I think there is a bit of contradiction going in here. You are saying you can't excuse crime by pointing out the offenders upbringing/poverty, but then you go on to say that the upbringing is actually the problem. Which is it? Do you agree that those from poorer backgrounds are more likely to end up in anti-social behaviour? If so, why is this?

For the record, I do think that some crimes can't be excused. But it's about finding the cause behind why certain young people offend and lack 'respect'. It's too easy to say 'blame the parents - chuck them in prison'.

Also, who are these people getting a fortnight in Spain for offending? First I've heard

I do sympathise with your apathy towards career politicians etc.

To be honest mate, I robbed this old woman, went to court and the Judge said, "I sentence you to 5 years is... MAGALUF!"

Was proper boss.

I think I've got a fairly strong social conscience and believe firmly in social justice. More vocal than normal at this general election for sure. These last 5 years have been nothing short of an ideological assault on society and its poorest members. Very concerned for the next 5 years.

I'd recommend watching the Miliband interview with Evan Davies which was on BBC earlier.

Miliband is hardly a radical lefty, but he shows some genuine passion when he talks about inequality which is nice to see for a change, especially after 5 years of Cameron, Iain Duncan Smith, Osborne and the rest of their vile cronies who have assaulted low earners, the disabled, etc, at every opportunity.

Evan Davies played that clip from the last days of the thatcher govt where she was explaining the difference between herself and socialists by way of how the gap between rich and poor should be. Miliband shot it down and argued with some conviction that to have strong productivity in the country and a stable economy, workers need to feel valued and this is done by fairer redistribution of wealth, not just by making the rich richer.

The conservative peer who described Tories' handling of the SNP as risky is right. Although they don't have much to lose in terms of votes in Scotland, they risk alienating the whole nation. By describing Sturgeon and the SNP as 'dangerous', one would think that the the Tories are trying to marginalise Scotland, which is strange considering they are such advocates of 'the Union'.

"I'm not going to play your glass game. It's very inventive, well done."

Best bit.

If the SNP want independence, they need to show the Scots how much better life would be as an independent nation. Cosying up to Labour and getting everything they want AND all the benefits of being in the union will never achieve their ultimate goal.

That detracts from my point that Tories play a risky game. They risk driving more of a division between Scotland and the rest if the UK by describing Scotland's far and away major party, the SNP and 'dangerous'.

Yeah, you'd almost think he wants rid of Scotland and all those non-Tory seats...

We should offer the Scots a rerun of the independence vote but with the whole of the UK having a vote..................bye bye Scotland.......
