Hi mate. I think there is a bit of contradiction going in here. You are saying you can't excuse crime by pointing out the offenders upbringing/poverty, but then you go on to say that the upbringing is actually the problem. Which is it? Do you agree that those from poorer backgrounds are more likely to end up in anti-social behaviour? If so, why is this?

For the record, I do think that some crimes can't be excused. But it's about finding the cause behind why certain young people offend and lack 'respect'. It's too easy to say 'blame the parents - chuck them in prison'.

Also, who are these people getting a fortnight in Spain for offending? First I've heard

I do sympathise with your apathy towards career politicians etc.

Ghost...first let me say that I was brought up on one of the poorest areas of Bootle and lost both parents at a very young age, and had to live with an older sibling and my parents was normal working class, and if I done anything wrong then you would get a slap..Simple, I don't pretend to have an answer, but from my day as a kid running about all over Liverpool with friends, and raising 4 children to show respect for there peers and treat everyone like you would like to be treated then have to read in a local paper (Norwich now) that a 14 year old boy was sent to Spain for a weeks counselling as he blamed his crime (mugging a 87 year old female for 9 pound) on his upbringing because his parents had never taken him away on a holiday made me sick.

I love this country and I'M PROUD to be British...but tell me please when was the last time you seen a load of youths not standing on a corner smoking, spitting, swearing and generally being a pest to those people living close!!!, I for one have seen it as I'm sure many people have, when I was a kid whatever ya mam or da said that was the law ...nowday's if you say anything to them your told to F***** ya self if I said that to someone when I was a Kid and my ma or da found out you would get battered!!!

And Politicians will always back the poor unfortunate Induvidual to make them look good!!! all of them are Crap..personal Opinion!!

Well they had their vote and ballsed it up so now we could do it for them...........it what that nice Sturgeon woman would want........

I know you're not being 100% serious, and I know you hate Scotland, but that doesn't sound too democratic to me.

What, everyone who would be affected having a vote ?.........both sides of a divorce get a vote to bugger off.......

This is a matter up to the people of Scotland. It should be their decision whether or not they remain in the UK, no ours, otherwise we would be virtually ousting them from the UK.

I sincerely hope they do get an independence vote in the not too distant future. I would want one if I was Scottish.
