It's relevant though isn't it? The global economy isn't something any nation can control, so we can only look at how other nations similar to Britain are faring under the same kind of circumstances.

Lets be honest here Dave, if France and Germany were zooming along at twice the rate of growth the UK has achieved, I'm sure there would be plenty of hay made out of it, and justifiably so, as you'd have to ask what they were doing differently to us.

Not when the rate of growth is so paltry. That'd be a hard argument to sustain.

And when recovery des occur in the EU nations it'll be on the basis of some solid manufacturing that spreads the fruits of it around a bit, rather than one like Britain's, which is based upon another housing bubble and propped up by billions of pounds handed over to the financial services industry to stabilise it.

Well I take Bruce's views personally. This idea that people are no good because they're not well off/ not working boils my vital fluids. The idea that it's THEIR OWN FAULT because somehow their minds aren't right gives me the urge to physically harm people who share those views.

Don't get me wrong fella. I can't stand his views either but sometimes the attack on those views can get a little too close to an attack on the individual. I have no idea what has influenced Bruce to think like he does. He is imo seriously misguided. I don't think (but I might be wrong) that he's a calculating wannabe despot. I think it's pretty obvious that Bruce and I are polar opposites in opinions. I can't defend his opinions. I will defend his right to air them.
