"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

George W. Bush........
A genuine laugh out loud idiot. I still cant believe he became most powerful man in the world. Utterly terrifying.

For me, the most dangerous man in Britain right now. An absolute lunatic.

Just 3 years after a Tory politician had helped to defeat Hitler. Funny old world.
Bevan was right though. It's not about your record. It's about what you plan to do in the future. The country was on its knees. There had just been a great leveler of men and there was an opportunity to basically build not only the country, but society from scratch. The social reforms and the welfare state must've been very appealing to the nation back then. They weren't to the Tories.

Having been in coalition with Labour for much of the war, Churchill announced that Labour would have to "fall back on some form of a Gestapo" to impose this type of socialism on Britain. guess what - Landslide.

Totally agree - however consider this.

Ed Miliband forms a minority Government, Boris takes over leadership of the Conservatives. No-one other than the Tories are going to call a confidence vote in fear of having this lunatic in charge of the country.

Unwittingly he may be our saviour (for the next 5 years)

Serious question; How is he/was he as London Mayor?

I know its slightly, well totally really, different, but curious.

He went up against Livingston, who is every bit the tosser Johnson is. Getting the mayoral vote is pure character politics, so the Tories stuffed Johnson in line for it.

He's a terrifying proposition for PM.

Never really thought about it. But am curious how he actually did as mayor.

Think the Great Depression, presided over by the Tories played its part too

 So the current recession (presided over by Labour) was a global problem that we had little control or influence over? Yet the Great Depression, which was presided over by the very first Labour government, was actually the fault of the Tories?

The amount of history that's been revised in the last hour has been quite something. It's worth remembering how brutal that crash was though. A whole lot worse than the current one, despite early fears that 2010 would be at least as bad.
