Most of us were delighted tbf.

Naturally judging by all the hand-wringing and agonizing on here but you're missing my point.

My point was that I've been where you are now. And contrary to your post about being delighted, I'm not sitting here jumping up and down because conservatives won the day in your country. If you see an elected party get too far out of line with the general electorate, over time the electorate will reign that party in by giving more power to the other party (or parties in UK). It happens here quite a bit and I assume that if the conservatives don't do right by the people, then the people will eventually give the opposing parties more power to equal it all out.

At any rate, the point I was trying to make is that I don't think it's going to be near as bad as you think it will be.

It's absolutely crushing to see everything you hold dear and believe in tossed out by the electorate...

The NHS, help for the poor and vulnerable within society. People are going to suffer. It was bad enough during the last term, it now looks like they'll have free license to do whatever they please.

That's what many on the right in our country thought when Obama won his second term with a House and Senate Majority. It didn't turn out that way and it won't for you either. Trust me.

Tim Farron still proud of what the Lib Dems achieved in government. That'll be the bedroom tax and breaking the promise on tuition fees then.

We've got £12b worth of cuts to come to our welfare system. They wouldn't even reveal what that'd constitute before the election because they knew how toxic it was going to be.

Given the huge shift to the right from both major parties here over the last 30 years, I don't believe you.

The other thing to remember is that if the Tory's get a majority they can push through the boundary changes and gerrymander their own future election victories for a decade or more to come.

We are now in the ball park of entering a one party state. A frightening brutal future unfolding before us. The Thatcher years will be seen as a golden age when this happens.

The Scots will leave and that will increase even more the one party state.

It's an utter disaster for democracy in this country.

Our part of the world's a crueler more spiteful place tonight.

A frightening turn to the extreme right in this country.

Dave,

I'm going to be completely honest here.

Years ago when you injected yourself on this forum about how you felt Obama was the greatest thing ever and was "great" for our country, I told you he was the most socialist/marxist lefty ever elected to our highest office. Apparently that's what you thought was "good" for us. Well it hasn't worked and it looks like your country (as of now) isn't ready for that type of government either.

Sorry you feel that's "cruel" and "spiteful" but the reality is that the majority of your voters don't want that type of government.

You'll get through it.

Have to say I am shocked at the result. Cannot comprehend the electorate in 2015 UK want to see more sick and disabled punished and pushed to death whilst millionaires get wealthier
